My parakeet loves her new mirror, and she sits at it all day long and pecks at it and rubs on it and stuff, but I've had to wash it daily so far because it gets so clouded with some kind of stuff! It's milky colored, but not really sticky or gooey or hard, just kinda like soapscum. Does anyone know what this is or if it's a problem?

Birds in the wild reguritate their food and give it to their mates and chicks. It is not vomit, it comes from their crop. Some parrot lovers say that it is one of the nicest compliments that you can get! Sometimes birds do actually vomit, and this is a sign of illness, but is very rare. Since you say it is on his mirror it makes perfect sense. They usually start this about the time of sexual maturity.

i've got not ever heard of this variety of ingredient. I actual have had countless birds. Grew up with parakeets and all had toy mirrors. Mirrors have not something to do with reaction to proprietors and agression. you're able to deal with the chicken at a youthful age and on a extensive-unfold foundation to lead them to tame.

Just trying to feed her reflection because she's in love with herself. I've seen birds start getting snippish towards people after getting a mirror, it's "another bird" to socialize with.

I also have a parakeet and we asked a bird specialist and he said that is is kinda like mucus that us humans spit out . The bird does it because of the reflection and thinks its another bird! IT's nothing to be worried about!

Hi there. I believe your bird has bonded with the mirror. If you desire the bird to be bonded with you, remove the mirror and the regurgitation behaviour will stop. It's up to you. Have a tweet year.
