Some Christians claim that non-Christians are being deceived by Satan. How can Christians be so sure they are not the ones being deceived by Satan? The Old Testament throws into question the nature of the deity being described. Some say that Satan went so far as to plant evidence that seems to contradict the Bible, so why is it that Satan couldn't have planted evidence that supports the Bible to trick people into worshiping him?

Yes, Christianity has done some good things. It has also done some extremely evil things. I am not sure how anyone can read the repulsiveness of the Old Testament and think that is God.

If taking scripture out of context is a sign of Satan then Christians have a lot to worry about. The New Testament takes a LOT of Old Testament scripture out of context. One of the biggest offenders is the author of Matthew. He rips small portions of verses out of context and tries to apply them as prophesy of Jesus. The problem is that when you put those passages back in context, they are clearly not prophesies or are prophesied that have already been fulfilled.

Matthew 7:16-18 says, "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

Despite what some people seem to think, Christianity has borne much good fruit over the past two thousand years. Christians fund and run hospitals, hospices, orphanages, soup kitchens, food and clothing banks, and schools. They volunteer time and money during disasters and emergencies, and they make their communities a lot better places for everyone.

Satan, on the other hand, is like a thief who only comes to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10) His fruit is evil because his deeds are corrupt.

He'd have to be an idiot to plant evidence to support the Bible, which reveals just how evil he really is. So I'm afraid your theory just doesn't hold water.

Great question!

We even see in the New Testament Satan taking scripture out of context in order to tempt Jesus.

The question I always ask when I question whether or not I'm being deceived is "where is this leading me?" And I look. If I see that something is leading me to selfishness or pride or hatred, then I can be sure it is not from God... that doesn't necessarily mean I am being deceived by the devil (it's too easy to blame him, ie give him so much credit... the terd). It is possible that I have deceived myself. Sometimes in our attempt to hold on to sin we do that.

I know I'm being deceived when what believe would lead me to trust God more and to love others. Two things Satan wants to undermine. Two things I also need to work on.

By the way, anything in any other faith, which leads to that which is truly good I see as coming from God, not the devil.

Thanks again for your question. By the way, I'm a Christian whose not a foundamentalist.

Another thing that is most disturbing, Matthew did not have a blog or any YouTube videos. Shamefull.
Then again, so is reading 21st century standards of literary construction into 1st century literature.
Remmber, The Bible holds the Word of God as the manger held the Christ. The manger had knicks (NOT THOSE KNICKS) and knocks - so does the Bible. Did satan cause some of the errors and confusion - not in the Bible, but probably in some of the 15 centuries of copiests.
I have been a Christian adult for 40 plus years and have never heard of "some say". Sounds like a literary ploy from Matthew.

Satan loves to work out of pulpits.

What he doesn't like is the Word of God. The Truth, Living Word, Bread of Life, Jesus Christ. Kinda hard to be a successful liar when you're fighting the Word.

Many Christians do not understand the Word is all there is between us and death. Many Christians entrust their salvation to big business organizations and their appointed "reverends".

They have been warned but the warnings fall on deaf ears for they have no respect for the Truth as it is written trusting rather in the traditions of religion.

Am I judging anyone? No. Just repeating the facts from the Word. Think I'm lying? Then you haven't read the Word.

Most Christians will be deceived by Satan when he stands in Jerusalem claiming to be God and Christ.

Sad. Very sad.

because the bible says that it is true, and the bible says that it is the word of god, and it is not like it has been edited or re-written or anything like that, so it must be 100%true because if it is not then my eyes will burn out of my head for reading the words of someone that claims to be god but is not and that makes him satan and then i am evil and everything that my church has done in the past 1500 years would actually make sense and this is too much for me to grasp , so i will deny it with scripture...

Genesis 14:10
Revelations 3:6
Proverbs 4:22

(these are random, and may not even be in the bible, but i just figured that with all of the bible quots that have no revelance to the question that i see on here, that something completly random posted by a pagan would make some sort of sense.)

I know the validity of the Bible through research. I also have learned the ways of Satan by research, too. I know that it is Satan's goal to have us doubt the Word of God and to twist what it says to mean something that the Word does not intend it to mean. Look at how the snake interacted with Eve.

Next, I always verify others teaching of the Bible with my own studying. By looking at different translations and written works on a topic, I get a better idea of what the Bible says and therefore what God says about the topic. I don't put much weight on what "some people" say, especially when to comes to Satan.

Very simple. We know, based on the very Bible that you speak of that Satan both knows and even quotes scripture. The way we know when it's deceptive is when scripture is quoted completely out of context, as often seen in this forum. Understand that at no time will God contradict what he has previously said.

That is a good question and so easy to answer...First answered by Christ himself who taught a house divided against itself can not stand. The Gospel is in agreement with all previous words of God. How can God be against himself? Did Satan deceive Moses when he first brought us the word of God and if that is true then are we not all deceived? If there was no true word of God through Moses...then all of us are dead as we have been created by a deceptive God who is entertained by our demise? You do not state what religion you might be but most religions depend on the book of Moses if you are of an alledged Abrahamic faith... The Gospel and Christ are in complete agreement with all of the true words of God and all of his prophets.
