The reason Christians (again, if you are one that doesn't, bless you, you are cool because you probably already know this) argue that being gay is a sin, is because they feel it is a choice, something people have power over.

You have to realize that by saying that you are making huge judgement, which is not your place according to Jesus. There is good evidence that gay people are born that way. Just as you would not judge a schizophrenic person's actions you should not judge a gay person. I am not saying (as was previously believed by the AMA to be so, then shown to be false) that being gay is a mental disorder, but it is something they can't help. Not if they are to be true to themselves. So it isn't a choice.

Therefor, if there is any doubt it isn't a choice, for you to say it is a choice is being very judgemental. Why don't you leave that up to God? It is certainly not anyones place to tell another how they may live. Doesn't Christianity say we will all answer to God someday?

Please no cut and paste scripture. All scripture referencing homosexuality as a whole are very hotly debated, even within the different churches.

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

With love in Christ.

If you are a true christian you should be taking gods word "judge not or ye will be judged" we should accept everyone and love everyone.
as for this "just as you would not judge a schizophrenic person's actions " (I don't know if this was your intention but it sounds like you are saying people do not judge schizophrenics) that is pretty misguided, schizophrenics are VERY misjudged, people see them as violent serial killers, deeply disturbed and evil and many of them make jokes which are very uneducated how many times have i heard the "im a schizophrenic and so am I" or the "I'm schizophrenic but we're ok now" many people are not educated and think it is MPD, or how many times do people point and stare and make fun of or full out avoid someone who may be talking to them selves on the street rather than helping?
Many doctors are even uncaring to schizophrenics.
Thats just my 2cents

You say that scripture is hotly debated?

The evidence that gay people are born that way is hotly debated also.

Just because someone cannot help themselves does not justify their actions.

The perverts that belong to the Man Boy Love Association think that diddling young boys is normal and they can't help themselves. So do some Catholic priests.

Men that bugger men and women that are intimate with women, have perverted devient sexual tendencies.

It's only obvious when we look at how we were created to propagate our human species.

I agree that God is the one to Judge and he already has judged by His Word and by the way He created us.

God loves everyone and sent His Son to be crucified for "Everyones" sins including yours and mine.

I really believe that Jesus would have us do good to gay people but at the same time not condone what they do.

After all, Jesus went around eating and drinking with sinners when He walked this earth.

This is what He said;

Luke 5:30-32
But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance

i'm so satisfied you've been so quick to declare Catholics practice because your gay your automactically going to Hell. nicely you're incorrect. We practice even if it truly is gay or immediately sexual sex is fornication if finished outside the bonds of marriage between a guy and lady and is both condemned and not in any respect something conserving your going to Hell because it truly is between GOD and the guy. And maximum Christian communities practice an identical.now you'll hit upon communities which will locate no sin in sex out area of marriage so if all of your searching for is a few one to agree consisting of your man or woman beliefs there lots to make your ideas up on from.I hate to enable you down yet there is extra to following GOD/Jesus than merely believing.

There are those who like to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Various verses are cited (out of context) and the verses that people use to show that homosexuality is wrong are explained away. The world wants to change God's words and meanings into something more suitable to its sinful desires. Nevertheless, the truth stands: The Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin. Let's look at what it says.

Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.

Jesus died for everyone. I mean everyone, and some of the worst offenders like murders and child molesters and I could go on and on. He died so that everyone that puts faith in Him can live. But faith without works is dead as the Bible James put it. So we need to work towards that faith and it means changing the works that the Bible condemns.
Remember , It's not the people it's what they do is wrong and if they continue to follow the path of unrighteousness then they will receive what they deserve.
