We are to obey earthly laws unless they keep us from worshiping and serving God.

Of course Jesus questioned the existing authorities.

But he didn't come to deal with the Romans ... at least not at that time.

He came first, to deal with his own, who were the nation of Israel, and the "chosen people" of God.

He called the corrupt Temple officials snakes, and children of the devil, right to their faces.

He overturned the tables of the money changers, and chased them out of the Temple.

He railed publicly and consistently against the false traditions and the hypocrisy of those Jews who were then in power.

He did all of this and more, for a little over three straight years, and hating him for it, the Jews eventually arranged to have their cohorts, the Romans, execute him, because they did not possess the power to do it themselves.

It would be another 300 years or so, before God would begin to deal with the Romans.

First, he converted the emperor. Then, the empire. Then finally, once just about every Roman willing to become Christian had done so, he permitted the Roman empire to be destroyed.

Today, only his Roman Catholic Church remains ... the pillar and ground of his truth, and a living testament to God's power and might, even in the face of human corruption.

Now why weren't you able to see that, all by yourself?

Sure. Jesus advocating paying taxes is exactly the same as torturing 6 million people to death.

Nice critical thinking skills, there. Public school student, I assume?

Ha! Good point. I concede.

You are supposed to abide by the government's rules of your country - unless they go against your Christian beliefs.
