Because their faith can not be backed up. They lack sufficient charisma to convince people through the power of their personalities.
How else can you defend God's test to see if you can believe in him without any reason other than trust in the authority of the church and it's holy books. And you are prohibited from doubting, questioning, scrutinizing, or putting the object of faith to the test.
Let the truth hurt but it must be stated.

It depends, is it a genuine questioning of their faith, or is it slanderous and insulting? Because for the latter, a regular person will usually never take it without getting upset. When it comes to religion, that's exactly what happens at least half the time. Some other individual, or even a group, will come out with cruel accusations, sometimes maybe not so cruel, but offensive, nonetheless. And this is what it boils down to: don't be offensive if you can help it. God loves everyone regardless their religion. Giving them crap about it and harassing them probably doesn't make God so ecstatic.
God Bless.

A Christian who gets upset when you question their faith does not have much faith to begin with. As far as questioning is concerned I believe it is not only my right, but my duty to question what is or is not the truth. It is I who will stand before God on judgment day. Not the pastor who preached to me or those who may have shared what they believed to be the truth.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for...substance is real i.e. answered prayers would be an example, The evidence of things not seen...God is not seen but you will see evidence of His existence throughout your Christian life.

Faith..... To have true PURE Faith you cannot see it... if you were without a job and You had FAITH someone would call you in regards to your resume... You Have faith in that but you cannot see that.... You are Hopeful.... You believe.... I am a Christian, And I have to have Faith that God will bring me through what ever I need to be brought through..... Sometimes God Doesn't answer my prayer the way i want, But I Have FAITH the he knows what is best for me... Not My Will But His Be Done..... My Faith and My walk are personal Just as everyone Else's is..... Why do Homosexuals get mad when people question their sexuality or why do races get angry when people question their ethical background.... because it is personal to them..... My Christianity is personal, and it offends... We all have something we believe in... And that makes us who we are.... And No one on this EARTH can change us..... We have to want to change to truly change.... And so that is why i feel people become offended when others question my beliefs

Well insecurity is definitly the wrong answer to this question,I can only speak for myself on this,I have come through a lot of hard times to finally arrive at faith in Christ,I have endured much hardship and citicism and had to fight many personal battles, so my faith is my life saver and very important now, and for someone to make little of my faith means to belittle what it took to get me here and that can upset me at times.

Their responses seem to be fear based. Some think to question what they have been taught might be a sin .... or to do so would be opening the door to doubt (which some experience as an attack from Satan). They experience doubt from a negative perspective only ... having not yet come to recognize doubt is a gift sent from their heavenly Father ... which will strengthen one's faith... because through having challenged it... that which could be shaken, is shaken loose, and that which is truth... is established.
Some have a strong need to be right... due to already having low self esteeme before seeking Creator God's truth for themselves.. and for them to question their faith, (or their family's faith, which they were born into) could weaken their ego further or cause them to be condemned by those they need approval from the most.... or............
As a child of the most high God... the truth/foundation of a Faith based spiritual reality is ... to ask questions is ... to use your God given wisdom and right to seek out the truth of a matter for one's self... without fear... trusting in the Holy Spirit to lead one into all truth and to confirm with signs following that which is indeed Father's truth, rather than just 'assuming', as you say what one is taught is correct.
Often spiritual infants don't know any better... but Father is faithful to raise us in the way we are to go... and will bring about trials and tribulations, so we can mature, and come into inner rest. Such experiences are loving gifts from our heavenly Father ... and are not to be feared. Jesus encourages us to FEAR not! *smile
My own spiritual reality since 1978... ordained by the Spirit of the Lord, it seems to be, have led me to question much through the awareness, we are to leave the old belief system behind, (we are born into inherited traditional belief systems and have emotional core beliefs which must be tested and laid aside as we grow... if not revealed to be truth, but only a distortion of it. When one's hands are emptied... they are freed to receive anew... and our spiritual journey teaches us... each day is a new day.).
Be encouraged ... it is a powerful way of being to not assume... it is a healthy way of being... and a good example... and will reveal Father's truth to many who are inner connected in your life. *grin

My faith has been CHALLENGED, QUESTIONED, DEMEANED and MADE MOCKERY OF..but I don't get upset. THEY get upset when I speak the truth about my faith. If you might not be able to handle the ANSWER, don't ask the QUESTION. I teach Sunday school (and have since 1988) to 3rd/4th graders (and have subbed up to 7th grade) and I encourage my students to question IF they don't understand. To question just to be argumentative or try to get a rise out of someone is a waste of time and is counterproductive and only makes the questioner look foolish.

Some do because they are not properly trained by Christendom to answer questions from the bible. They feel that is why they have Priest, Reverends, Elders, Bishop's, etc, to relieve them of their God given responsibility to preach the Good News of God's Kingdom.
But in today's world, it is much like the days of Noah, people are to busy with everyday concerns to develop a relationship with Jehovah. To come to know him, to love him as the only True God and to worship him as he sees fit.

You can question my faith as much as you wish, but you won't upset me. You see, over 37 years of being a Christian, I have experienced God working in my life, and the lives of others in all different kinds of ways. No one can take my experiences of knowing a faithful God, and knowing His hand upon my life.
I have experienced much 'substance' of things I have hoped for.
This 'hope' the Bible speaks of is a sure and certain hope.
He is faithful God!

I would agree that insecurity has alot to do with it. It might be possible also that by questioning someone you are testing their true beliefs and finding out who they really are. This can be disconcerting or troubling if someone is actually NOT living what they believe. They hide the guilt they feel for being hypocritical to their own faith by getting upset and over-bearing.
