I have a 12 week old long coat chichuahua puppy, Blossom, that weighs 4 1/2 lbs right now. Dad was 4 1/2 lbs (was from 4th generation of champions) and mom was 6 lbs. Anyone have an idea of how much bigger she will be full grown? I adore her and will so at any weight, but was just wondering....

An AKC registered Chihuahua should not weigh more than 6 pounds full grown.. Over that, they are considered too big. Having said that, I got a 18 pound Chihuahua that is bigger than my Rat Terrier. Never buy a dog from a pet store as it probably is a "puppy mill" dog. Always go directly to the breeder. (Or the dog pound if you do not care about all that AKC stuff.)

It really depends. I have two chihuahuas that are around 4 lbs, and another chihuahua that's 12 lbs (she isn't fat, just taller than most chihuahuas). A dog book I have says that chihuahuas are normally between 2 and 6 lbs.

It's likely to weigh about the same as the heaviest parent but that is if she's at her optimum weight. Small dogs can and do overeat and become overweight so check with your vet and only feed her the (daily) prescribed amount of a good quality food and treats. Chihuahuas are prone to having bad teeth too so be sure to brush her teeth and feed her kibble rather than wet food.
