Oh Boy!!!!....I thought I had a axe to grind on this issue....I've seen opinions posted from pity to downright loathing......There wouldn't be a problem with ILLEGAL immigration if there wasn't such a demand for the labor.....You can drive down any street anywhere in this country and pick up a bus load of aliens to do jobs that are in some cases aren't even offered to the citizens that are born here..why you say just as I stated earlier, the demand is so high...what really ticks me off is when I lose my job because the company I used to work for wants to go to a foreign country because he doesn't have to worry about a minimum wage or enviromental issues, or unions..or even providing health care or pension plans....and the country that my job was outsourced to has ILLEGAL aliens coming into this country.. Hell you already got my job, what are you doing over here!?!?!?!?!..I feel that way about anybody that comes over here ILLEGALLY, not just Mexicans....Most of the ILLEGAL aliens that come over here are used to living in poverty..So a minimum wage job looks like a T-bone steak to some of them.....I don't hate Mexicans or any other ethnic group, what leaves a bad taste in my mouth is the fat, rich, lazy overpaid politicians in this country for letting this problem get out of hand...Let's get real...ILLEGAL aliens are even getting health care for free...at least a couple hundred generations of my family were born in this country and helped to build it.. and I can't even get decent health care....Just take a good look at the businesses and corporations that benefit the most from ILLEGAL immigration...We need to crack down even harder on these jokers....

The way I see it with some of the illegal immigrants is that they are being persecuted. With a majority of these people I see trade offs. Some of them come over here and work menial labor jobs for low pay. Some of them use our emergency rooms, education system and social services, to some degree. The trade offs I see have been in our local grocery stores. Another trade off I see comes in the form of pro-American sentiment. If some of these people use our education systems, so what. Should they decide to go home they carry that education with them. They help in promoting even pro-American sentiment.
Since the beginning of NAFTA/CAFTA we have been sending good jobs out of this country. For some reason these people are still coming here. Dosn't that suggest that there is still something wrong outside of this country? A lot of people do not care to understand that there was a NAFTA/CAFTA idea and similar long before these terms became understood. It was called, skirting import and export taxes. Or haven't people figured out that this was common business practice inside the international business's? These people who got NAFTA/CAFTA past us, yelled progressive terminology such as globalization. It looks to me that globalization is not meant to maintain a stable labor force or economy here. Sure the stock market looks good. But how much of those sales and incomes are generated from American companies that have left the country? The GDP registers our output showing a drop over the past year. These international corporations, closing plants here, putting workers onto the roles of unemployment and then social services, are a larger portion of the problem than immigrants.

Illegal immigration is just that, illegal, meaning 'against the law'. So, to find out why the whole business is being tolerated/permitted, a closer look at the whole structure of the enforcement concept is necessary and important. Read more about it, and you find that a small industry has grown up around the process of applying for and obtaining visas, some of it extremely shady, and the lack of adequate regulatory oversight of the entire mess speaks to the existence of corruption. Proving that, though, is probably going to be nothing short of a herculean task, and you have to consider positions taken by states such as Texas, who are quick to point out that it's been lucrative for them to the tune of some 17 billion dollars or so to kind of let things slide. The question stands, though, as to what the long-term effects will be, and bluntly spoken the lions' share of illegal aliens in america come from Mexico. So, then you get to ask if Mexico is effectively going to end up with voting rights in Congress etc.
Money is definitely the motivator in all of this...if companies can hire people at half the rate they'd have to pay you, there's a huge incentive for them to do it, to try and slide one by the law, as it were. Welcome to globalization...

1st off, there is no such thing as an "illegal immigrant." Immigrants come LEGALLY.
What happened with the African Americans and the Indians has nothing to do with the fact that we are being INVADED by other countries. The only thing that the government did to create this disaster is that they having stopped it long ago. We didn't invite them, as you implied.
As for the ILLEGAL alien criminals, they are breaking the law and should go home. Employers should be jailed for hiring them - hiring an illegal is against the law too.
I am sick of paying for the support of 20 million people that shouldn't be here!

Yes it was wrong when our ancestors took over Native Americans. but why do we have to continue letting it happen.
we can't change the past but we can change the future. we can keep this from happening but the government needs to make immigration laws stricter.
i don't care the race if they are here illegally they need to go back to their country and if they Want to live in America then they need to apply for a green card like other people do to come here legally

Los Angeles always had traffic but around 6:00 the traffic use to die down that was in the 70's and 80's now in 2007 it's traffic all day in LA and in LA illegals can get a driver license and in the inner city it hurts the school system because most illegals can't speak English. LA should have enforced English only so that they can adapt instead we have to adapt to them and that's not right because if i moved to Mexico I would have to learn Spanish right?
Many say this use to be Mexico but you tell native Americans that and they will want to kick your *** because they feel the Mexicans ran them out.

I am a United States Citizen, who came from Latin America legally and lawfully. I admit that there’s a lot of xenophobia behind the issue and this is clearly immoral. The Pat Buchanan supporters should be ashamed of themselves!
However, I don’t think it is correct to enter the country illegally or to overstay your visa. I had to go through a long process to acquire my green-card and later to become a citizen and such process included long hours in lines, fees, background checks and health evaluations that went from x-rays of my lungs to blood work. In addition, I had to prove that I was able to support myself.
Hard-working legal immigrants who contribute to society, and bring diversity to this country should be welcome. I simply don’t think it is fair for someone to enjoy the same rights when they didn’t have to go through the same scrutiny and don’t follow the laws. It opens the door to criminals and terrorists and it does indeed affect the quality of life in the United States. If they enter the country illegally they should certainly be deported!
Independent of their status, most illegal immigrants are honest/hard-working people that immigrate out of desperation. Insulting Mexicans while shopping at Wal-Mart makes you nothing else than a dumb racist. Rather than harassing Mexicans or bragging about the “superiority” of one ethnicity or culture over another, it would be more efficient to demand more competence from the authorities when enforcing the immigration laws, hassle the politicians that benefit from the issue, and go after the people and businesses that profit by offering low-wage jobs to immigrants.

The only thing that pisses me off about illegal immigrates is the fact that most of them don't speak english and most refuses to learn it. I work at a department store, and I have customers coming up to me and asking me questions in Spanish. I am black and have no reason and whatsoever to learn Spanish. It seems like Americans are being forced to learn Spanish, you will get a good job if you speak Spanish and will get rises faster. If you are a illegal immigrate, ******* learn the language first and stop assuming that everybody speaks Spanish. And PLEASE stop having so much babies. I am sick of having to pay for people to get laid and get knocked up.

It bothers me that we focus solely on Hispanics as part of the immigration issue. I think we need to not group everyone in the same category who comes to this country. Yes, some go on welfare but some do not. Everyone who comes here should be paying taxes. I owned a business in Orlando, FL for several years. Orlando is majority Hispanic. I hired illegals for one reason. I never had Americans qualified apply for a job. Hate me if you want to but I had to have employees I could not run a business by myself. Most Americans did not want to work for my company because we worked long hours and spend a lot of time outdoors. I had good illegal employees and bad illegal employees. I would never group them in one category. I would rather hire an illegal hispanic who shows up to work on time, graduated high school, and does not have a criminal background than an American who did not make it out of junior high, has been to jail ten times, and shows up late to work because he had to meet with his probation officer this morining.

Wrong. Only a small percentage of not very intelligent people would believe that anarchy is the answer. Any such type of uprising would quickly be quelled. You do know that Homeland Security monitors this kind of internet banter right?
