if it keeps cutting out at junctions or wont idle . try cleaning the idle air control valve . its down by the starter i think on the red tops or it could be at the back of the engine up top i cant quite remember . you cant miss it its a round tube like barrell with a hose and a plug with i think 2 wires if memory serves me correctly . i had this problem with my astra 2000 gsi . use brake cleaner or carb cleaner as the slide gets stuck with varnish from the petrol . email if you want mate

I dont know if its a problem with gsi 2000's or a general fault with the manufacturer of that part. it can make a difference if you have an induction kit fitted, the air flow meter is a sensor made up of a fine wire that measures the amount of air going in and the temp of the air.
With an induction kit fitted, you may find more loose debris and grit running through, if this contacts the wire it will stop working.
Air mass meters can sometimes be sorted with a spray of brake brite or brake cleaner spray, the only prob is if its brought a light on you may need a garage to reset it!!
