She has to treat her comrades with their gunshot wounds etc. Then she has to treat the taliban who are brought in injured, only for them to go out and try to kill our men. What is wrong with this country. They would hardly do the same would they?

Because she is a nurse in the military , plust to top it off she has to abide by the rules of the Geneva convention, plus she took and oath as a nurse, anyway taliban wounded soldiers go to a P.O.W camp after treatment, not back out to the streets. thank your nice for serving our country.

What is WRONG with this country is that AMERICANS CARE about human life. Unlike many of the enemies we have come in contact with the past several years. They would rather take one of our wounded, behead them, burn them and hang their burned, mutilated bodies from a bridge like a piñata!
You niece should be commended for saving ANYONE's life. YOU have obviously never seen a person with a limb blown off, his intestines hanging out, mutilated from explosive ordnance.
Many of our past enemies, in particular those in s.e. Asia, have been surprised (and suspicious) when we show care and compassion for our wounded enemies. A human life is a human life no matter what their position is...enemy or not. Save a wounded enemy and maybe win him/her over and we can find some Intel that way. I guess you'd rather just finish a prisoner off. The Nazis, the Viet Cong, ChiComs,N. Koreans, Japanese did that.
We don't CATCH AND RELEASE. When an enemy is caught and healed, our troops don't set him free. Where do you get such a hair brained idea?

They don't treat the Taliban and then let them go. They treat them then lock them up. We treat them because it is the right thing to do. No they would not do that for us, no one ever said the Taliban was full of good people.

She should treat the Taliban, but the Taliban shouldn't be going anywhere except a P.O.W camp after.

Because we show them mercy and treat them as humans is what sets us apart from them. We believe as Americans that even animals should be treated humanely. Do i agree with it I really don't know. It's hard for me to say yes because those are the very same animals trying to get our soldiers and my husband, but as an American and a Christian i guess yes we are suppose to show them compassion. But I do hate the idea of it. And I pity the medics who have to be over there treating them and patching them up. I can't imagine the torture they go through having just worked on a buddy, someones son, father or husband and that to turn and offer help to the man who did that to them. I guess it's that strenght of character that sets military apart. Duty first, personal feelings second. God Bless them all.

the hypocratic oath means she treats everyone with the same degree of care, as does the geneva convention, and long may that prevail.

We may have doubts about they way our enemys would treat us but all the time we show ourselves to be beyond reproach the chances get better that the same will be afforded to us.

And unfortunately to correct an error, she may have to treat others first if their injuries are more life threatening

That is in the Geneva convention. Whenthe American girl soldiers vehicle got blown up in Iraq, the Iraqis took her to hospital. And humans are no better than each other. "That sets,...." load of tosh.

It just doesn't seem right, does it? War is such a horrible thing to have a child or loved one participating in. Our prayers are with you and your family. Our daughter is in Iraq.
