he still has a tremendous appetite and meows really loud and likes to play and can still move around. Is it possible he can live into his 30's? The only problem I can think of is he has trouble hearing and tends to space out a lot.

Wow good job. Is he the only cat in your home or does he have a buddy? Ive heard sometimes cats with companions live longer.

He looks good for 20. I don't think he will live to be in his 30's but just so you know, 20 is VERY old for a cat. Their life expectancy is about 9 years. Most of my cats have lived to be around 13 but my mother has cats like yours, in their 20's. I don't know what you people do, but you have some amazing cat care skills.
Enjoy your cat!

he looks pretty good for a 20 year old boy! If you want to let him live a long time be sure to take him to the vet twice a year to get checked out so you can make sure you are giving him the best of care to increase his longevity. Like old people they need to see doctors more often so they stay healthy too.

thats great! 20 year old cat that looks lots younger? man you are lucky! its like humans. all get old, but most die younger. some live with much energy and look young. be happy you have such a great cat. he loves you and you should show him you love him back. get him some treats. as for the hearing, well, that happens. the zoning out however might need looked at. could just be old age.

You cat does look young for his age! My kitty is 17 and is starting to have some problems with vision (her eyes are getting cloudly and at times she doesn't find her litterbox in time). Purina has a great library of older cat info... there is everything from illnesses to watch for, diet, fitness, even death and grieving:(

Aww thats a very cute cat you've got there. I think he looks as if he's 7. I think he will be able to live onto his 30's. By your desription, he looks very healthy.

Yes, my cat died when I was 19 and so was she. (a long time ago) I still get teased because I was the first one home and called my mom crying....kitty is dead." SO my mom said cover her with a towel. And I covered her but I left her head showing ...you know the towel was all the way up to her chin. And everyone still teases me saying "remember when you covered your cat up to her chin?" HA HA HA
They laugh like it is sooo funny. I just thought, hey the poor kitty needs to have her head showing.
