what happened to rational, intelligent, tactful debate? what happened to respecting others for their opinions and disagreeing in a civil manner--using intelligence and clear thinking to develop ideas, rather than resorting to calling the person stupid, ignorant, or an idiot, etc?

When you figure the answer out, please let me know, because I have wondered the same thing. Maybe calling people names & putting people down, makes those people feel BIG....actually, they look very SMALL in my eyes.

Probably because people may expirence a 'power' when all they have to put-down is a computer moniter, since they are very much annoymous.
Also,it may be contagious..being as you are insisting so many people are 'bagging on others' you're right, this has ben going on so much

People will always want you to be either on there level or below.

If you resort to using their dialect or feeling the same as they do, then they have gotten to you and you become like they are.

They are down at the level somebody else has brought them to and they want you there with them. It is a lonely place.

I agree with everything your saying as well. Some people on here feel this is a free space to degrade people. But most people should have sense to distinguish negative people and gossip from genuine info.

Yes you are right, but we don't live in perfect world and people are going to say what they want to say. We all need to respect each other and lift one another up, not bring them down.

I trotally agree with you. However, many do this to get a rise out of people--then there's the 1st Amendment (freedom of speech and the press...) to consider.

If those people who are 'bagged on' would ask MEANINGFUL, INTELLIGENT, WELL THOUGHT OUT QUESTIONS instead of frivolous, disrespectful, questions or questions that can be answered by doing a google.com search or asking PROFESSIONALS instead of us yahoos on YAHOO, maybe the wouldn't be 'bagged on.'
