...irrespective of whether there's a God or not? If the world remains as it is, and there happened to be no God, and despite all the suffering that as humans we endure, isn't there always something or somebody to be found, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to put a smile on your face? Okay so we're doomed to get miserable as the species we are, but without the misery, there wouldn't be the happy. So yey for being human! Who cares what we all believe when we all have that one unique amazing experience in common, right?

I'm not tryin g to say that it's better to have a God or not, the point is that we all are made either happy or miserable by the same kinds of things, whether we're religious or not. The most important thing is to remember that while we have different views and beliefs, we're allpart of the only bizarre species that we know of who can think and experience in the way we do, and we're all here living and we're all in it together, and that's nice and it makes me happy that everyone said they think life is beautiful, apart from the guy who said life sucks, which is true also, but sometimes the melancholy things are beautiful too, in their own strange way.

For the sake of argument, say there was a god. Would a being that was capable of creating the universe, the cosmos, all dimensions really need for us to grovel or cower in fear at the invoking of "his" name or execution by stoning for the crime of picking up firewood on the sabbath? Think logically and the answer is no, this practicing of religion is silliness thinking that chanting or slashing the throat of a goat will bring you closer to god. Which leads us to life and making it meaningful. Experiencing life despite its struggles can and is a very beautiful thing. Unfettered by constrictions of dogma that make us feel like we are insignificant we can make it beautiful and life for those around us that much more beautiful. Making your share of the world a better place for you having been there is a beautiful thing in itself and perhaps that is where the beauty lies.

"Isn't it enough to see that the garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" ~ Douglas Adams.

Absolutely. The world is beautiful and miraculous without inventing religion to account for it. In fact, religion does nothing but limit one's wonder in the world and universe.
