What's the difference between a mythical/fictional creature and a 'real' spiritual being?

For example: If i met Mickey Mouse or Homer Simpson on the astral plane would he be just as real as a demon, angel or fairy?

Who created demons etc. anyway, werent they created the same way Micky or Homer was? Didn't us humans create them with our beliefs, or did they come into being the same way we did?

rabble rouser: Geez relax dude, you might come to understand that Creative endeavors can be just as 'real' as any other being, but you do make a good point. Dragons etc. do seem to be found in all cultures.

rabble rouser: I'm a bit of a Neo-Occultist. Im into postmodern Occult paths and I believe in Animism. I think even Homer has soul or spirit. It sound ridicules, but all the energy people spend wathcing these fictional characters and all the energy the artist spends creating them makes them 'alive' in my opinion.

btw, i havent met any of the Simpsons on the astral, but i wouldn;t be suprised if i do...

We created them... and yes they are the same.

That has to be the silliest question I've dignified with an answer - but here we go:

What you are talking about is the difference between a creative endeavor and an archetype.

Archetypes (like dragons and the knight in shining armor) are images that reside in the subconscious minds of all people. The stories are similar in every part of the world... they do not change very much and it is believed that they stem from realities of the past. (Some people even believe that dragon stories are the result of a time when man and dinosaur may have existed at the same time.)

Creative endeavors are characters and stories that people make up for entertainment on a more temporary basis... like Mickey Mouse.

But mostly your question is miscategorized - the occult (at large) has nothing to do with Mickey Mouse or Homer Simpson....

Occultism is a study in pre-christian paths... occult is a word that christians have come to use for everything that does not agree with the Bible.... and even some things that do. It has a negative connotation even though it is not a direct insult.

It is said that any thing that ever lived anywhere in the material worlds, still exists
in the spirit world. We are supposed to be able to create a type of spirit with our spirit. Many people unwittingly create these thoughtforms. "Hell" being a place full of these thoughtforms that have been drawn toward the magnetic center of the Earth.
I would imagne there are quite a few Mickey Mouses and Homers flowing around out there that have been created during peoples dreams. Except when some of them
smile, they have 12 inch fangs!
But there is nothing to fear but fear itself!

I guess that if your an atheist you will believe they are all mythological, and, if you are of a spiritual or religious disposition, you will probably pick and choose according to your own preferences/prejudices.

One interesting theory is that, when humankind reached the level of intelligence at which they realized their own mortality, the shock was so great that they had to create an afterlife to make the realization of their own demise bearable. And, once people have got to the point where they can create their own God's, it isn't going to be far down the line before they begin to create demons and other spiritual beings to go with them.

Hope you can understand this.
Here goes ... anything outside of creation is technology created by man's mind and hands from the substance of creation. Now I bet you are really confused. Well, sit down and seriously think about it.
Some examples:

Clothing, shoes, cartoons, Disney Land, swimming pool, skates, cosmetics, automobiles, electronics, appliances, housing, etc.
All of which are considered technology created by man's mind and hands.

The part of creation that cannot be seen, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Angels, Satan, demons, etc. come from a belief in a Supreme Being. Hence the idea of religion. To accept one, one must accept all. To deny one, one must deny all.

The real ones are the ones you can experience.

For example, jins that can make your coffee for you, pixies that clean your house while you're at work, dragons that live under your coffee table and only come out when you throw their toy.

How about let's get real? If there were any such thing as spirits with any kind of power, do you think republicans or democrats would be in charge?

Demons are fallen angels, that is angels that followed satan when he became proud and wanted to be as God. He and his followers were cast out of heaven. They are real and the Bible has much to say about them as well as other angels who did not fall.

I think most people realise that Mickey Mouse is only a cartoon and you will only meet him in a film.

Most importantly we must be ready to meet God who is indeed spirit. We can't meet Him as we are because we are sinners, but Jesus Christ came to keep God's holy law and then die as a sacrifice for sin to those who receive Him. Have a read thro the book of John in the Bible and may it be a blessing.

Regards, James

here is my belief, and as such is not to be considered truth, or proof or anything like that. it is just my belief.

Demons are ancient creatures. they enjoy toying with humand because we have the ability to fear them and to create a lasting fear in ourselves and others. it is much like candy to them.

as for who created them, i cannot tell you. i believe in several gods (hundreds) and have yet to find one that will claim their creation, so i believe that demons must exist in much the same way as the gods themselves do. they simply are, there is no creation or beginning. they just are.

as for running into mickey or Homer in Astral Travel, this most likely would be one of 2 things,

1, another traveler that emulates the attitude of that paticular character, thus causing themself to appear that way.

2, a demon that can detect your surface thoughts and uses a popular icon to appear friendly. (i think that this is more likely than number 1)

The occult perspective is that if you invest enough time and energy into imagining a being, it becomes "real", because it is real to you. That's how artificial elementals are created.
