I would like to send my brother (Navy) some cookies, but I want them to be fresh when he gets them (takes one to two weeks). I have a great recipe, but the cookies are hard after one day, even if they are covered, it's just the way the recipe is... has anyone had success with a recipe that is still delicious when they get them overseas? Please, tried-and-true ones only....
thanks

Oatmeal/raisin stay fairly fresh but I don't have a recipe for you, but a mailing tip. Use a Pringles can to mail your cookies, works wonderful!! Hope you get a good recipe.

Is that the fastest option? Cant you get "express" shipment? I'm not sure how this works because I have never done it. 2 weeks? hmm...I would do something like a shortbread or a sugar cooking but in all seriousness I don't even think that will work. Two weeks is just too long. You would be better off buying store bought and packaged cookies and sending them since they are chock full of preservatives.

Stay away from chocolate chips they often melt in transport. Cooks.com has tons of cookie recipes for free. I would consider trying peanut butter since there is nothing that can melt in transport. Also, stay away from anything with any kind of baking chips, m and m's, carmel chips, peanut butter chips, etc. That's really great you are sending stuff to your brother. I know many people do not bother to support our troops.

We sent rice krispy treats to nephews in Iraq at Christmas - they worked well. (But I suspect these guys would eat just about anything!) We mixed in M&M's to add some color and chocolate flavor. After you cut them into squares, wrap individually in wax paper before shipping.
