Well watch it there now. You need to google visa and read up on this. Reason is that the US now frowns on people getting married with a tourist visa and then you think you will automatically stay. Wrong. You still have to go home and do the paperwork.
It would take too long to explain so just google a visa site and they can explain better.
Worse case scenario. You both say heck with it. You marry get an ID with the married name and get the SSN. Not being a citizen means you can not vote (a lot of Americans don't vote anyway), you can not hold a Federal Job (if your spouse can not support you are in trouble anyway), you can not run for office(then they would find you are really are illegal) and does anyone really care (I don't, lol). And if you ever tried to go back to England you would really be in trouble as your visa has expired and then you might not be able to come back in. But you could travel to Mexico and come across the border.

The marriage itself is trivial; you can do that anywhere. The real question has to do with the visa; I infer that the two of you would prefer to live in the States rather than in England, and you will need to talk to the INS people to find out about that. INS [they have changed the name to something else, but it is still the same people] has offices scattered about the country, so finding a local one should not be difficult.

I was under the impression that was more of a spontaneous thing than a planned one. Hang out at the airport.!!
