i have platinum because it is a heavier metal and can take the abuse my hands go threw on a daily bases. gold is a very soft metal and will need to be re-dipped. i've had mine for almost 5 years and i just have to have it cleaned, i have not had to have it polished. it really pops with the diamonds. another thing you might want to try is holding the white gold in 1 hand and the platinum in the other. the weight difference is really what sold me. it's just a sturdy metal, and if you plan on wearing it for the rest of your life, don't you think you'd like something that is sturdy?

Mine is white gold. I favored white gold because platinum has a tendency to be a lot less bright than white gold. even as i change into searching at earrings the platinum appeared to be boring compared to the others. Plus, white gold is way less intense priced than platinum and no human being will ever understand the version in case you do not tell them. One will very last merely see you later as the different.

Go with the white gold. It may need re-dipping, but if you buy it from a jeweler, you can get a lifetime warranty that will cover this. Platinum is too expensive for what you're getting. Some jewelers have begun reducing the amount of platinum they use in platinum rings to make them more affordable - but they're less pure. And, because they've grown in popularity, the price has surged for them. You're paying less for the actual product and more for the demand.

My mom's wedding set was yellow gold. Because gold is a soft metal, over the years her wedding band wore through her engagement ring, so the setting had to be replaced. If you can afford it, platinum is a lot more durable than gold. The rhodium plating on white-gold serves to turn it a platinum color (rhodium is in the platinum family), so I would say that is good evidence that platinum looks better.

From what i have seen with all my girlfriends some got platinum and others white gold well the white gold keeps its shine and the platinum doesn't but all in all alot of them would have prefered the white gold just so they would go with the hassel of polishing it .

Not one of your choices, but consider traditional yellow gold. It lasts longest, is really durable, and is not a "fad" as white gold and platinum are now. I think if you look at them side by side at the jewellers, you will see how beautifully the diamonds sparkle with the yellow gold.

We have had white gold for 32 years - with regular cleaning and care, it looks as good as it did the day I put it on her finger.

i prefer white gold, but if her skin is very reactive and colors when she wears gold/silver/nickel etc. I'd go with plattinum so that will not occur. It's extremely unreactive and won't leave that green mark on her finger.
