Hi I was considering moving to Balitmore and was wondering what the best and worst parts of it would be. Or if there are any suggestions on neighborhoods to live in.

Westport is an up and coming neighborhood which may look dicey now but that will change in the next 5-10 years as redevelopment takes place. Speculators have driven up housing prices to $100K and one may still see open air drug dealing BUT that will eventually go away.

Many neighborhoods in Baltimore have become expensive BUT there are bargains to be found mostly on the city's West side, Northwest side, Northeast side and Southeast side. As people take the risk and move into cheaper housing, those neighborhoods will stabilize.

I have seen some neighborhoods go from "stay clear" to "gentrified" in less than 5 years. Figure out your budget, your tolerance for nuisance crimes and how close you want to be to work and the right neighborhood will fall in your lap.

I live in Parkville. It's a pretty nice neighborhood. You should probably avoid some parts of Baltimore city because parts of it are really run down and their are some bad neighborhoods.
