Probably because they were not fixed by the same vet.

Different vet use different techniques. My kitten had a pretty big incision(about 3 inches long) while my friend's cat's incision was only an inch long.

Different vets use different methods. Both are ok, really. It could also depend on how your cats got spayed (laser or scalpel).
