My strategy will defer from the following elements:
1. How I lost it [most important]
2. The emmotional bonding between us
3. Her weak emmotional areas
4. My true feelings.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I would mix all the four and decide a strategy and start with a very particular note :SORRY

I've been trying to figure it out myself. The thing about that is sometimes bad timing just happens. You meet the person at the a time of your life where it's not going to work and it just fails. People move on. Although, I would give it another shot after a period of time.
When I do give it a shot, I will have in my mind that I've been with others since, but I'm a better person. The worst that can happen is that I get rejected, right? Life continues...

You know, sometimes you can't. Guys are like,"Well, now I have more options!" They tend to be happy left alone.
