I understand what you're saying Bill I, but writing to the Queen wont help... she doesn't hold much authority over Britain now and I find it pretty unlikely that teenagers will listen to much that she has to say. They don't listen to the police or even their parents.

Problem is there is no respect either given to teenagers or taught to them..the only way they get any respect is from their peers and that is through acting out.. this is why ASBOs are becoming like medals of honour... it is the only way that teenagers feel they have respect from someone... maybe it is only their peers but they are most influential in this time of life. The authorities and elders seem to immediately assume teenagers are trouble and this will immediately put their back up... think about it; if you knew your boss thought you were a waste of time and a trouble-maker.. you'd be extremely defensive the second they asked you a single question.

So banning all hoodies from shops gives the immediate signal that people do not respect the teenagers and they then become defensive and seek acceptance and respect elsewhere. It then becomes easy to attack the ones that already dislike them in order to gain the 'respect' from peers and so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It's a catch 22 now ,that is going to be phenomenally hard to get out of... one 'side' is going to have to break and start granting respect to the other in the hope that this respect will then be returned.

A few more youth clubs wouldn't go amiss either to get these guys off the streets... this would also have teenagers interacting with adults outside of school and home. maybe they'd realise that we aren't all bad?

Do you know they one thing i hate? Stereotyping! I cant stand it. Why does everyone who isnt a teenager naturally assume that all teenagers are loud and rude??? Its so unfair. As you can probably tell i myself am a teenager, 14 to be exact and the answer to your question is that not all of them are. Have you ever thought that maybe the nice quiet ones have got jobs or something. I completely agree that some teenagers are loud and rude but then so are some middle-aged people. Its just the fact that they happen to be between the ages of 13 and 19 that you notice them and ask stupid questions about them on here. Why is it that your questions doesnt say

"Some People, why are they so loud/rude . . .?"

Sorry if this answer has come across nastily or anything but i am fed up of people stereotyping other people. I know that every teenager in the world will agree with me when i say this but once again, not all teenagers are rude and loud!!!!

I think part of the problem is that some teenagers become loud and ill mannered when parents are not around. I was an annoyance in my teen years, to everyone prolly!
But, as some have said we need to never tar entire groups with a wide brush.
That also means that not all parents have skived off their responsibilities--some young people are bound and determined to behave rudely in public to show they can, when parents aren't around to control.

proud to be british ... dont make me laugh. not all teenagers are loud and foul mouthed, i admit a certain proportion are but try to understand that the fifties or sixties are long gone and people and their kids have a different outlook on life where swearing is an every day event - what happens at home is picked up and enacted on by kids...its a different generation with different values.... i can put up with the swearing etc but it makes my stomach churn when i see an adult spit or spew the contents of his nose onto a railway platform in front of other adults and children.

Not all teenagers are loud and rude, but I will admit that some of them are and its quite a shame. Its almost as if their parents haven't taught them how to behave or they they feel that they have to act rude in order to be respected by the group that they hang out with.

I think that teenagers are getting more out of control and it is a shame, I don't know why but it is getting worse in some areas

your right . the problem is this new PC crap . political correctness is a virus that attacks the morals of man.
i also wonder why here in Canada and sure the USA all the British people i see on TV real life people are rude . like Simon cowell and it seems most others.
i was actually thinking of writing the queen and telling her to please speak up about the poor manners of today's British .

the deeper reason as to why the youth are rude and so on is that they feel they are not knowen to the public. if just one adult was on the bus that new just one of the parents they would shut up and behave. what we need is adults to have the right to stop kids and get there mom or dads phone number and call them and tell them this is what your kids does. that would smarten them up that and a good punishment at home.

Teens and children use a different part of their brains than adults do for making discisions. Adults use the frontal lobe and teens use the amygdala.
Being British, I'm sure that's all the information you'll need to find out exactly what you want to know. Good luck and may all your public transitions be scenic and tranquil.
...just a thought.. have you considered getting an ipod and some good literature/ Anyway, good luck

I agree, when I was younger i wouldn't even contemplate speaking to my elders the way some youngsters do nowadays. There is barely a night goes by when I'm standing at the bus stop waiting to go home after a long day at work and some wee chav comes up and asks me for either money or a cigarette. I now just say to them "aye no bother, I will go out and work all week to keep you supplied in fags/money, GTF!!!

They're less concerned with what you think, than you are. In fact, you're probably so aware of everyone else on the public transport that even if you wanted to say something, you wouldn't because you'd be embarrassed, shy, or afraid. They're not, but don't worry-- time and social pressure will make them succumb and in a few years, they'll be sheeple, too.
