Want to be a SEAL but don't think Navy boot camp would prepare me enough.

So I guessing what would the minimum time it would take to go from Marine to Navy SEAL? 4-6 years?

No they can not. No boot camp will prepare you for BUD/S(Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training).

However, you are in luck, the Navy is getting a new "Special Warfare" division in boot camp. I don't know all the details but its supposed to be A LOT tougher than the regular divisions.

But even so, you have to prepare on your own before you go. Its going to take a lot longer than a 3 month boot camp to do that. It can take up to a year to be ready physically. If you are serious you need to buy BOTH of these books by Stew Smith:

Read them all and you should have a good idea if you really want to be a SEAL or not.

And if you think you will want to become a Marine and then transfer to the Navy and become a SEAL, that is possible BUT not very easy. The Marines spent the time and money to train you so you will have to do some time in the Marines before they just let you go. And then once you are in the Navy you will not likely get to go straight to BUD/S. Most likely you will have to wait around on a ship for 2 years before you go.

No, although the marines are a branch of the Navy, you have to be in the Navy to be a Seal.

No. SEALS are all Navy personnel.

Even Marine boot camp wouldn't prepare you enough. BUDS is supposedly light years beyond any accession training.

Yes after your term you reenlist in to the Navy Seals. Go back throw meps. and than transfer over. A great amount of people go from green to blue and blue to green, and that would not be that much different.

I hope it's something really want to do and not to impress someone else. BUD/S is tough and, as someone mentioned, Marine boot camp is kindergarten compared to basic SEAL training. Good luck!!

You need to talk to your CO and get a transfer to NAVY. And, enlist through the NAVY. Since MARINES are part of the Department of NAVY it should be easy to get a transfer.

If you're a Marine, why would you want to be a SEAL instead of Force Recon? Curiousity overwhelms me cause Force Recon guys are pretty bad *** too.

According to this, you have to finish your term in another branch before going to Navy SEAL.
