Jesus followed Jewish law but he was upset that the Jews loved the law more than God.

Jesus followed the Jewish Law that was present at the time, but also was changing it. The Pharisees that were in power at the time valued and cherished the Law of Moses. The real question is where did Moses get the law. The answer is God. God sent Jesus to change the law. It was forbidden to work on the Sabbath, but Jesus performed miracles on the Sabbath. The Commandment was to remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy. Also the Jewish law was that only the Jews were able to worship God because they were his chosen people. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again he changed that so that all people can worship God. The gentiles before that were not worthy of worshiping God in Jerusalem. So Jesus' respected his Jewish Tradition while setting the elders and leaders of the Jewish Tradition on right path.

There are traditions of blind belief that Jesus was asked to correct. People are more inclined to disregard the Old Law of the Sabbath because of their needs to be able to do business instead of taking the rest on that day. Jesus mistakenly have catered to those whinnings by showing utter disregard to the law and arrogantly claiming he is the Lord of the Sabbath. He did not realize that there were more influential few that took advantage of what he did enough to accuse him of blasphemy. Rome at the same time was looking for those opportunities as cover for their real fear that Jesus can be a dangerous leader against the Empire or Rome's government in Judea.

Jesus had a work to finish ( John 17:4 ) and he could have chosen the Chinese or Indians to finish the work the Father sent him to do.
It just so happened that Abraham believed in what Melchizedek taught him that Abraham was finally chosen. Jesus came to uplift all mankind and it just so happens he did it as a Jew. In the real Universe ( heaven) Jesus is no more Jew than he is anybody else.
