Usually skinny person can get it knee popping specially if you do not move all the time and lack of exercise. Multivitamins with calcium can help and drink lots of water everyday at least 8 full glasses of water everyday and eat more vegetables or salad everyday. But if you have knee popping, please try to feel or examine yourself if your energy is changing a little bit like you get easily tired, then you need to go to the doctor for your Physical Examination or Lab Work.

I am familiar with that, because it happened to me. It could be caused by many factors. Among them a previously injured knee from a fall or otherwise, the bone structure may be weakened probably because of a fall or poor diet (lack of calcium) and it could be caused by arthritis. What I experienced with my knee the popping led to my leg caving in and later pain. It took surgery to correct it. Good Luck

You have synovial fluid in your knee joints that act as a lubricant. The fluid contains gases and when you use the joint to walk up the steps it stretches the joint capsule and releases the gas and forms bubbles that "pop"
If there's no pain, there's nothing to worry about.
