YOUR SOUL IS YOU

Souls created, souls born, souls resurrected to salvation.

Gen.2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Spirit of God is life of soul, spirit belongs to God, all else can be dust to dust.

If you will accept our answers, or even a minister's answer, you will be confused. Check the Bible itself! Genesis 2 verse 7 says that after God formed Adams body from dirt, He breathed into the dirt nostrils and Adam "became a living soul". Our soul is our body. Ezekiel 18 verse 4 says that the soul that sins will die. (It means eternally, not live forever in some place called hell) The "doctrine" of the immortal soul came from a novel written in the 500's A.D. by a man named Dante Alighieri titled Dante's Inferno. It was then taught by the catholic church as a "doctrine".The Bible does NOT say that. All protestant churches came from the catholic.

My own study of the Bible has convinced me that our souls or spirits go immediately into the presence of God when we die. The Apostle Paul wrote that those of us who are Christians "would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).

Although the Bible doesn't answer all our questions about life after death, it clearly tells us that we can look forward to heaven's joys when we die, if we know Christ. Shortly before His death and resurrection, Jesus told His disciples, "I am going there to prepare a place for you ... that you also may be where I am" (John 14:2-3). The Bible also says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

The most important truth I can tell you about heaven, however, is that we will be with God, and nothing evil or harmful will ever touch us again. In heaven, God "will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4). Why would anyone not want to go there?

All this is possible because Jesus Christ took upon Himself the death and judgment we deserve when He died on the cross for us. And by rising from the dead, He showed that He has conquered death and Hell and Satan forever. Is your faith and trust in Him for your salvation? If not, commit your life to Him today.

Depends on your belief. The Bible states that he gathered dust and made Adam. He then "breathed" life into Adam and made him a "living soul." Given this and other scriptures, we are living souls, whom upon death, die, and the holy spirit that kept us alive, goes back to God. We're then non-existent until the resurrection. Those that are resurrected come back alive. Those that are not, are gone forever. Hence, the living soul is destroyed.
As for other beliefs, no one mentions of a soul being destroyed. Maybe tortured forever or living in bliss forever, but not destroyed.

Yes. I know people say that souls are made out of energy and energy cannot be destroyed. Yet they forget that energy can be transformed into something completely different. Your soul is basically who you are, your Self, your conscious mind. When you die, that part of you dies. I do believe in some respects part of your soul lives on, but not in the conventional sense.

This may give some insight. Christ tells His disciples what to expect in Matthew chapter 10 as they are sent to the lost sheep of Israel. A small portion of what He told them is copied here:

26"So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny[d]? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

32"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven

Maybe He is speaking to all mankind through what he said to His disciples. Since you couldn't see yourself not existing, maybe that is evidence that you do know that YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO GOD. So just acknowledge Him. May you have peace.

God wants to heal and love, why would he want to kill unless he feels there is no hope for you. BUt that is why Jesus died on the cross for you and me, to take those sins and prepare a better place far from here.

I suppose he could but, he has said that for some people who commit the nastier sins that they will wish they had never been born because of the eternity they will spend in torment.

Yep.

It's called the second death and lake of fire.

It is so easy to avoid.

Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

You'll always exist. Where you will spend eternity is a choice given to you by God
