Cardio is better. Weight lifting is mostly for toning your body down. If you wish to lose weight you are better with cardio because for one, it helps your heart and it will make it stronger and healthier. Cardio is designed to push your body and when you are pysically active in a rigorous sort of way, you tend to sweat and when you sweat you burn calories, causing weight loss. Cardio will help your body burn more fat and strengthen up more muscles.

It's not an either or thing. The whole point is you do both. Weight lifting will technically not actually help you lose weight. It will build muscle, which will use a lot of energy to maintain itself, making you lose fat. You will be a lot slimmer, but may weigh more (as muscle is denser than fat). Cardio is also very good for burning calories, which obviously helps with weight loss. I'd try alternating interval training days with steady speed days. Interval training is simple and easy. I've always had good results from sprinting roughly 50 m ( the distance between 3 lampposts where I live), then walking 50m, then sprinting 50m again etc, keeping this up for 2 km or so. Hope this helps

Keep the weights, they are great for strength and toning up. You might find that adding more cardio will quicken your results, extend your session to at least 30 minutes and maybe try to do 4 instead of 2, and then build up from there Good Luck!

In weights, you should alternate. Light weights and many reps- tones muscle, and is "cardio". Heavy weights, and few reps, builds mass. To loose weight, eat more good food, and less junk. You can work yourself to exhaustion and not burn enough calories to break even if you eat a lot of bad food.

I saw on TV where they said if you combine weights and cardio you will get the best results fastest.

Hold hand weights and put on ankle weights when on the treadmill. You might gain weight by muscle mass, but you will see the difference in your toning.
