Hi there....here's an instructional video on how to give liquid medications to cats by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for Feline Health: http://www.felinevideos.vet.cornell.edu/liquid_medications/full_movie.shtml
Ideally, the medication should be administered directly via a plastic syringe so they get their full dosage. Mixing it the food will not guarantee a cat eating the entire dosage and most cats are very clever enough to eat around their medication.

I am giving my cat liquid meds right now to. You need to get a syringe, measure out the correct dose, then insert the tip of it in the side of your cats mouth, then QUICKLY squirt it in. The cat isn't going to like it but just do it really fast!!! Good luck.

Get a syringe - without the needle - and fill it with the dose. Open kitty's mouth with your fingers and squirt it in with the other hand. This assumes, of course, that your cat will let you hold him. You may need a friend for assistance.
Works with dogs too. Your vet should have needle-less syringes on hand.

If your cat is very wound up, and fiesty i would reccomend getting someone to hold it down while it is lying down, firmly yet gently. while you pry open the jaws with the index finger and thumb of one hand. Take the prefilled syringe in the other hand, insert it fairly far into the cat's mouth and squirt it out as quickly as possible in one motion. If your cat is loving and friendly, you could manage to squirt it in its mouth by yourself.

First you take a tranquilizer - this is going to try your patience.
Calm the cat, use and oral syringe and put it in the side of the mouth. I wish they made fish flavored cat meds!!
