The best answer I've ever heard to this question is simply "I don't know". Anyone living on the planet right now who tells you otherwise is merely guessing. Hoping.

Well, let's look at it this way....either there's life after death, or we just cease to exist. If we just cease to exist, then what's the point of life? Why not just do whatever we want, get rich, step on anyone that gets in our way, and make our lives the most comfortable possible. Why have morals? They just get in the way and hold us back. Why even let people with disabilities, and those that are starving, live....they're just using resources that could be more efficiently used by healthier people. As a matter of fact, why not just blow up the whole planet? All miseries will come to an end finally. Would the universe miss this pathetic tiny speck of Earth?
I believe there's more to just living and dying. We're here for a purpose. This states an existence of a God, which helps to show that there's something after we cease to live. It's something to hope for.

Personally, from a scientific standpoint, the best looking answer is no, because once the body dies... Its gone. But you can't know for sure. Just as an atom, or cell is greater than the sum of its parts, so is a human. Scientifically, random chemicals in your brain shooting around a thought does not make. So there could be a spirit or something that goes to an afterlife or takes on another body. Perhaps theres only a certain number of consciousnesses? I think that death is like falling asleep- blackness, nothingness- and not waking up. But this question has been around for as long as mankind, so my answer is no better than anyone else's.

I have faith that there is life after death. It is what Jesus, who I accept as my Savior promised His Followers.
However the philosophical way of looking at it for me is even simpler. If I am not sure there is life after death am I not better off living as if there is one? I mean if there is no life after death, you have lost nothing but if there is one you may have gained?
We may never know for sure but if I were not a believer I would still rather be safe than sorry

I've died three times. Twice during operations (C-section and major abdominal surgery) once after an operation.
There is life after death. Once you have an experience where you leave 'here' and go 'there' you aren't afraid of death anymore. It's peaceful, loving and full of light.
When you come 'back' you are much kinder to other people, and forgiveness is much easier.
Would I love to go back? Yes, and eventually I will. I'm not in a rush because I have business here first, everything in it's own time.

Yes ther is !!
My religion told me, and secondly i beleive that we are answerable for everything that we do here and the only way our creator would ask us to give us a life after death and to carry it.......i don't believe that our death is blind end. There is something beyond our death and that we would know after entering that eternal life !!

Well if you want to believe that there is nothing after death then go for it, but it would make perfect since to believe there is something, like heaven. This sounds just fitting for me.

Totally, dude! You just blew my mind. How about this one - what if movies are REAL? Even the ones that look like computer graphics whenever something crazy happens... Wouldn't that be cool, too?
