I like this girl at work and I think she likes me. She became single again within the last few weeks. I was having a few drinks with her and other friends. I made fun of her in what I thought was a light-hearted, teasing kind of way. But if im honest I was probably having a dig at her too. I accused her of doing well at work because a few of the supervisors fancied her. These guys are sleaze bags and I thought I directed the remarks more at those guys than at her. But she thought I was having a go at her only and was pretty annoyed. She was hot and cold with me at work. Then a supervisor was trying to flirt with her and she made a remark back to him which he took wrongly. She was trying to be flirty and he interpreted her remark as being cheeky. This proved what I said was correct. After this she was totally pissed with me. I didnt say anything about the incident. She didnt say anything to me but she ignored me the rest of the week and pulled faces at everything that I said around her.

I was not going to apolagise because I felt she had overreacted. Also because there was truth in what I had said and this was why she was angry - the truth hurts. But I thought about it and felt I should apologise. So I did. I did by txt because I felt she wouldnt let me talk to her about it. Also because it was getting late to give an apology. I said what I said was wrong and stupid and it all came out the wrong way. She replied quickly to tell me not to worry abiut it, that it didnt bother her. I know it did cos her friends told me so. Do you reckon she forgives me? And do you think she is lying it didnt bother her? Or that she realises she overreacted and treated me a bit harsh and this is her way of making me feel better?

Why not sincerely apologise to her - away from work if that is at all possible, present her with some flowers or chocs and invite her for a nice meal. Don't be too heavy but if she has any feelings towards you she will welcome you being sincere and making the effort. Good Luck.

Don't try to understand her reasons for lying about it, remarks like that can sometimes really hurt a woman, they just don't always like to admit it as it shows a weakness, and if she does quite well at work then she will not want to be showing weaknesses to anyone.

Try to apologise once more but in person. Try and keep eye contact with her while doing it so it is harder for her to fend off your apologies. If she still backs off leave it and don't bring it up again. If she wants to bury it, she has her reasons and you need to respect that, otherwise it could cause bigger arguments between you.

Good luck with it though, some of us women can make it very hard for you guys to apologise!!

if she's your gf or a family member, flowers are really nice. Especially a rose. If she's really not telling you what's bothering her, just tell her you got the roses for her because you love her. Take care of her. Be sweet. Don't treat her like a piece of meat. She's human, ya know.

If you caused what bothered her, apologize (sincerely). If she doesn't let up yet, let her get over it. Girlz sometimes need to let off steam sometimes.
