Today my friend ordered "brus-ketta" as a starter and the waitress said, "Brush-etta for two then?"

Brus-K-etta is the way... harsh k from the "sch". Basic Italian..

Brush-etta is just a common mispronunciation.. Know many Italians who take great pleasure in correcting waiter/waitresses. I have to admit in taking the same pleasure although I'm not italian.

Brus-ketta is proper. I have to admit I say bru-shetta though.

Your should roll the r-sound and the "e" should be stressed and pronounced as "a" and linger on the "t". So it comes out as
brrr-oo-SHAYT-tah.
