elmers is not a hair product...its glue. You can use something that looks and even kind of smells like glue - Got 2 B Glued, Hair Spiking Glue. It works really well. Dont use too much at first, you can acheieve better results with a little less.

If you are just trying to be punk and cheap-use egg whites. Seperate them from the yolks, and beat them up a bit in a bowl. Then use them to spike your hair. Use it on dry hair and let it dry in between applications. The egg whites will become dry and very stiff. You MUST use cool water to rinse it out before washing it out..dont use hot or you'll cook the eggs! Gross!

If you want a mohawk, you'll have to cut your hair into...well, a mohawk! Don't bother doing a faux-hawk...you'll just make yourself look lame. Faux-hawks just scream "scenester"! As for spikes, I've heard from a few people that egg whites work, although I'm not sure what you'd have to mix it with, if anything. And it just seems it wouldn't smell so good once you got out into the sun, but I dunno...

I have spikes, but they are short. However, when I'm going to a show and I want my 'do to be immovable and hard as steel I just use gel in several layers. For instance, I'll spike my hair with gel, let it dry, coat is with hair spray, and then break it up (no water; don't wash/rinse) and put in another coat of gel, let it dry, another coat of hair spray, etc. I do this every few hours throughout the day and by the time evening comes and I'm applying the 4th or 5th coat of gel/spray my hair ends up drying as hard as a rock! I come out of the pit and my hair hasn't budged! Heh, heh...
