Sometimes when you buy a computer they put the minimum memory in their for price sake. I had 256 Mb memory came with mine. As I started to slowly get more programs in their it started slowing and freezing at times. I put the max, 1 Gb in, and haven't had trouble since.

Check out what your max memory is and what you have in it now.

Go and defrag too. Set up the auto defrag while you are at it.

Also do a virus check. If you get a data miner virus, this will clogged your machine and slow it down.

Now go to START, then RUN, then in the window type MSCONFIG and hit OK. Go to STARTUP and towards the bottom you can uncheck the files you do not need or want to start up. I had microsoft office starting up, but I do not need or want it, so I unchecked the box. So things are obvious and some thngs are not. You can always uncheck Messenger, as I can start that manually. If you play enough with your computer , instead of yorself, you will be able to load messenger or whatever you need real fast. This will decrease start up time.

Do not forget: Virus and memory check.
