Hi Amy...for deterring inappropriate cat behaviour around electrical wires consider using a cable wire loom to bundle up the the wires. The loom is very inexpensive and not only does it prevent the cat from tangling in the wires, but also tidies the area up as well. You should be able to find some of these at local hardware stores or order these online. Cable Organizer Wire Loom: http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/
For the wires that are difficult to bundle consider using either apple cider vinegar or ara pet-friendly deterrent spray-on product called Grannick's Bitter Apple® http://www.grannicks.com usually found worldwide at most pet stores. It is a citrusy scent that once a cat tastes will generally avoid those areas which have that particular odour. Rather than directly spray these onto the wires and plugs, first unplug the surge suppressor then mist the solution on your hand to coat the wires manually.

Hello, I just answered another person with the same problem. The lady chose my answer as the best : ) I suggest either hot sauce on the wires, wipe the wires with hot sauce, just enough to deter your cat. Or, there are cat repellents at the pet stores. Spray it on the wires, it has a smell that cats and dogs don't like. Only thing is with the repellent you have to do it every 24 hours as the smell wears off. Like I told the other lady earlier. I have seen many cats that have gotten hurt by chewing on electrical cords through the years. But, there is one that stands out in my mind the most. He was such a sweet cat too. One whole side of his face was disfigured because he chewed on wires. That is a very dangerous thing for any animal to do. You have to stop your cat as soon as possible before some thing happens to him. Hope this helps as I don't want to see any thing happen to your cat.

I would wet a paper towel with something that doesn't taste good like lemon juice and coat the wire with it, not too much, just enough so when she bites it, she'll get a bitter taste and probably won't do it again. My cats have weird little quirks as well, in fact, I had this cat one time who loved to eat string, I mean she would actually ingest it. Cats are strange, you just have to be clever when it comes to deterring them from doing something. Also, you might be able to buy something at a pet store that will keep her from biting the wires, I believe its a spray that you put in the area you don't want the cat. Good luck!

Sit her in front of the television and put "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" in the vcr, fast forward to the part where the cat is chewing on the wires and give her a tutorial. Or you could try spraying her with a spray bottle whenever she goes near them.

My cats have a problem with counters. If you place tinfoil down on the floor around the wires, this may dissuade her from getting near them. Cats (at least mine) hate the feeling of tinfoil on their feet.
You could also spray her, but that would not work when you were away at work... Same with several other suggestions. Another bet is to coat the wires in a sticky substance that is not harmful to your cat. Lemon juice would also stop her, unless she likes lemon....
good luck!

Make sure that whatever the cord goes to is not plugged in, create a mixture of cyenne pepper (spelling) and vinager. Spray this on the wires and wait until it dries. The cat won't like the taste of it.

I would try putting something that your cat doesn't like on the wires to get her to stay away from them. I would also try to move the wires to a new position that wouldn't be so easy for her to get to them.

You may want to get the cat some toys dipped in catnip, give the cat a distraction when U see him going after your wires. It will get better as the cat gets older. Good luck!
