It has a wonderful underlying current within it of a message of redemption. As Bill Murray's character was initially self-absorbed, he eventually learned to place others above himself.
By the end of the movie, he was gracious, others-centered, and because of that, he got rewarded.

I'd say the moral of the story is, sometimes good things happen to you but you're too dumb to realize you have all you really need, so due to a miracle you'll repeatedly go through the exact same thing over and over again until you finally realize that you are happy.
Kind of like life, although in life you can go all the way to the end and still not be happy.

God is a God of second chances. That could be a true spiritual message.
Even though reliving days wont happen exactly that way. That is one of my husbands favorite DVDs.
Also, in reality, similar troubling things reoccurs in our lives, and because God wants us to learn something. It takes a while to learn the lesson so we will go around in circles in one area in our life, until we repent (change our mind & behavior) about it. Different time, same old troubling thing. There is a way out. That is where one needs to seek God for the way out.

It's a retelling of the Flying Dutchman myth. Condemnation to repeat an event until redeemed by love.

Live each day like its your only one.
Did you really not get that from watching it? I can't imagine how it could have been more blatant.
Its not a religious message, its secular.

>>Do you see it as supporting any particular religion?<<
I found the emphasis on serving others to be very Catholic, as opposed to "Just Jesus 'n me" Protestantism.

I only viewed it as an entertaining film-any deep moral or religious undertones weren't apparent to me.
