You see here. I need a job so I can save up to go to college. There is one problem. I live on a lake with a whole bunch of resorts and that is all, and I live on one of thoughs resorts. Really you can't get a job here. There isn't any stores, malls, etc, and any where close to me that has a job available is an hour a way. Also, there are not many people here to do any babysitting or any thing. Expationally the winter. I need a job, and it also has to be a good paying job (partime). Also I live in BC, Canada. What can I do? Can some one help me please. Thanks

You'll have to get creative and be persistant.
Get out there and tell everyone you meet that you are looking for work to save for college and how much you want (i.e. $10/hr). If your community doesn't suck *** (as mine does where we don't even know who the hell our neighbours are) people will support you. People who normally cut their own lawn will call you up. People will find things for you to do. Approach all the tourists too, and say if they need anything, you are available, here's my card, "Joe Smith Willing to Work, $10/hr, 250-555-555" There you go.

There are also internet jobs, or telemarketing jobs... other long distance jobs out there?

But if you really want to go to college, guess what, you will never be able to save enough money (especially working part-time). Have you seen the prices of College/University these days? You'll be saving your money for years and years. I know teens who have parents that are still paying off their student loans.

Basically, apply to college, apply for a student loan, move near the college, study study study and go to school, do very well, work in the summer, and hopefully you become educated enough to qualify for a $20/hr+ job so you can pay off your loans once you are done. That's how it works. It totally sucks that in our supposed democracy we have to pay for our own schooling, but that's what happens in a democracy, you see, the majority of people are not very smart nor educated, in fact I'd say they are pretty dumb and ignorant, so they vote for whatever politicans the TV or Church tells them to vote for. Then we end up working our asses off every day and all of our money goes to taxes, and what's left over goes to rent, food, utilities, etc. Good luck!

If you can, borrow money from your relations for school and pay them back instead of the bank, that's the best way. In Canada parents are supposed to have been saving money for 18 years ahead of time for your education, it's part of the educational rules. If they don't do this, then you are sh*t-out-of-luck. My parents never prepared anything for me (the government also never tells parents these rules, but compentent parents should do research and educate themselves -- they've got 18 years to do so and to help their children with planning their future) and thus I, and many others, am stuck in a dead end job without enough money to go to university to do what I really want to do. Anyone have $60,000 I can have?

Well... this is a tough one. Can't even think of anything.
You would need to make some sacrifice, I guess.... Like taking that 1 hour away job, which is not so very crazy thinking of all those London commuters for instance. Or if you are good at something - perhpas make something and sell it? Or if you are good at computer, perhaps you could find someone needing some computer help? How about giving PC lessons?
Sorry, this is all I can think of...

An excelent opportunity for work is to sell things on Ebay. I've been doing that for a while now and it brings in a couple grand a month for me. I go to thrift shops and buy different things there to sell. I sell them for 5 or ten dollars over what I bought them for and it works great for me. Also I do buy stuff off of liquidation.com and sell it as well. It's been a great part time job for me that does not take up to much of my time and has allowed me to pursue a degree without having to worry alot about money.

i dont know the minimum wage there, but check the internet maybe there is a job closer than you think. housekeeping in the resort is a great start too. use flyers, word of mouth, anything that can possibly help. there are scholarships too check there and maybe there may be job listings on campus. good luck but some type of start is better then none.

If you live on a resort, there should be jobs you could get, like being a maid (making beds, cleaning rooms, etc.), shoveling snow out of driveways, cleaning houses, mowing in the summer, doing odd jobs like that.

Don't just phone. Go to a prospective work place in person. Also, dress how you would if you were going to start working there right when you walk in. Be confident in the interview, and look the interviewer in the eye.

If there are no jobs being posted in the area that does not mean they won't hire you.
Be persistent and present yourself well. Hand your resume in and say what you are looking for.
