Understand where they are coming from and ask them nicely. Think of it as if they will follow a request out of affection for you. They will probably not follow a request when ordered to do it. And sometimes people just won't listen and don't deserve to be in a relationship.

No one should be telling each other what they HAVE to do in a relationship. That's just wrong. It should be a mutual relationship where both people still have their own lives and opinions on things and they share those with each other. If you're trying to order people around you will never have a meaningful relationship......even a true friendship. No one likes a control freak.

You have 2 ways to go!
1. Buy a leash and put it on him
or 2. Treat him like a human, people don't take orders you are mistaken with dogs.
Kindness understanding and YES even ASKING or REQUESTING that he MAY do something might work, depending on if he really likes you.

The best way is to ask. You should never order anyone. I'm sure if your bf ordered you to do something, you'd object.

You can only expect to get what you give. try giving a litsening ear, and maybe you too can expect the same when you have something to say. Typically, this is how it works between two sound-minded people.
Best wishes!
