It's generally not a good idea to share with others what you're eating by showing them. So yeah, it's pretty rude. Chewing anything with your mouth open is RUDE.

OK
Chewing gum is one thing but chewing it with your mouth open and then even putting it under tables is quite another!!!
It is so gross the way everyone does that!
I don't really chew gum that much!
And also people are replacing brushing their teeth with chewing special gum!!!
Gum does NOT clean your teeth properly!!!

~~~Yes,,,chewing gum with ones mouth open is rude, and what is even ruder yet is the popping and snapping of chewing gum. I find it extreamly annoying when standing in line at the market and the lady waiting behind me is snapping and clicking and popping her gum,,,,,,,it is very nerveracking and very rude.
No. I absolutely agree with you? How is it different from eating with your mouth open? The noise is repulsive. The young and old do it.
My theory is, if we can't eat food with our mouths open...the same should be applied with gum.
No, you are not the only one.
The rules of etiquette died with the people who made them apparently.
Their parents dont teach them any manners or good behaviours. Kids copy their parents as role models, so I blame them.
..and i cant stand slobbish people. They should learn to consider others.
No you're not the only one, I hate it too.-many other things bother me as well that don't bother others, (I hate it when people blow their nose in public, especially at the table, really loud, in quiet restaurants, etc. (My dad was really loud & it would startle me or make me jump.)
