In the prisons I worked at, you will first be stripped searched when you go in. Next anytime they do a serious shakedown of your cell. Plus anytime you have visitation you will have to strip search going in and going out of visitation.
you will stand looking at the person and hand them your clothes all of them, and they search the clothes first. They will have you run your hands though your hair to show nothing in the hear, you will open your mouth and move you tounge so they can see in your mouth, If your breasts hang, you will have to lift them. you will turn and raise each foot one at a time so they see nothing on the bottom of the foot. and of course bend over and spread so they can see everything.
For men anyway, they may stip several people at one time.
Of course you will be using the toliet and showing in front of people anyway, so it is somehting you just get used to

based on my experience i would say there are two levels of strip search when i was 19 i flew to the States from London and then having spent a few weeks in the states flew to Australia where i was strip searched however they did not go as far as searching any body cavities and there were two officers present i was not actually fully strip searched anyway i was asked to remove some items of clothing one piece at a time so although i was given a full strip search short of an internal search i was never fully naked at any time after the search i was told why i was searched the officers were very polite at all times said they were sorry for having to do so and explained why they searched me and gave me a letter of explanation as well, in fact the whole thing was done very politely under the circumstances, they told me it was because i had flown to Australia via L.A. and it was the sort of route a drug dealer would use Rather than fly direct to Australia

By law, a male officer cannot strip search a female inmate, just like a female officer cannot strip search a male inmate. A strip search must be in an area not visible to just anyone. Worst case scenario...you and your cellmate may be strip search in each others presence before your cell is shook down. A cavity search is ONLY done if there is suspicion of drugs and other contraband.

A strip search is where you remove all of your clothing - ALL of it - and hand it to a guard to be checked for contraband. YOU are then checked for contraband as well...it's called a BCS, or Body Cavity Search. And yes, it's EXACTLY what it sounds like. The guard (of the same sex as you) will check inside every cavity in your body - EVERY cavity. So be prepared when the rubber gloves come out. And yes, you will be naked in front of strangers; they're going to be female prison guards, and you ain't got nothing to show them that they haven't seen hundreds of times before, so it ain't no big deal to them. After the BCS is over, you'll be issued your prison clothing and taken to your new home.
Next time, don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

I was strip searched once - they make you take off each item of clothing one at a time. They tell you which thing to take off next. They keep going until you are completely naked. I was in a fairly large room with 5 (yes 5!) male officers. Most of them just stood and watched.
Don't bother trying to cover up - they ordered me to keep my hands at my sides and only move when directed.
I had to run my fingers through my hair, open my mouth, lift my belly fat (I'm overweight and yes they told me to lift my fat so they could see). They inspect every inch of your body.
They even make you bend over and spread. Don't bother trying to get out of it - they won't let you. You just end up standing there naked for a longer time. Then after the inspected me, I was handcuffed behind my back (still naked obviously) and they looked through my clothes with gloves on. They really took their time because they knew I was embarrassed. After all that, they led me to an empty holding cell, put me inside, took the handcuffs off, locked the cell, and then gave me my clothes through the bars. When they take you to the cell whoever sees you sees you (sorry). Hope your strip search isn't as bad as mine was.....

A strip search is exactly that. A search while you're naked. Now a "cavity" search is something different.

correctional officers of the same sex conduct a strip search, a male officer can never be present for a female strip search, however in an emergency situation it is ok for a female officer to be present in the strip search of a male inmate.

Since your a female a female guard will take you in a room and tell you to take all your clothes off yes even underwear. Then she will tell you to lie down and spread your legs so they can check inside to make sure your not carrying anything, then they will tell you to bend over and check your rectum to make sure there's nothing there too. Also if you hvae long hair they will check it. SO I hope you don't go to jail and go thru this embarrassment. And if happens that you don't go to jail, count your blessing and turn the othere leaf because you don;t want to g o to prison it's not a fun place.

A strip search is just that, you are made to stand nude and in demeaning positions while a full body cavity search is conducted.
