It says in the bible Jesus died at the ninth hour but its called 3pm
The ninth hour for us is 9 am .how do they figure 3 pm?

The Jew's day was from sunrise to sunset counting 12 hours. so starting at 6, the 3rd hour would be about 9 o'clock

you must go back to the beginning- when God created the day and night - He did not say here is 24 hrs go to it- a day to God is from sundown to sundown-Fri night to sat night (sabbath). so it would most likely be around 6am when their day started- so... the ninth hour is 3:pm (6 to 7 one hour etc). The roman empire changed the day schedule and the actual day of Sabbath--- We have a lot to learn ......

It is the 9th hour of DAY. The ninth hour since the sun came up.

They went by "watches". There was a day watch and a night watch. 3pm would be the 9th hour of the day watch, assuming daylight came at 6 am.

I would suppose it was nine hours after the crucifixion began or something. But I'm probably wrong. I'll read up on it.
I don't know. Historians are always different in their assumptions.
The Bible stays the same.
