Google Zeltsman posing, and see his website. The shots are dated, but good posing doesn't change, even though the hairstyles and clothes have! Also Monte Zucker has a great site with lots of posing and lighting tips, although he is primarily a wedding photographer,
Photogenic is not only about how pretty someone is in the flesh, its about lighting and angles and know how.. Good posing contributes a lot to the final result. You also have to be able to see a person's best features and understand how to accent the good stuff and minimize the less than good.

Angel... There are a set of poses that are good to start with but hard to describe... it is easier looking at an example.
Get some magazines and start cutting out different poses in ads and articles and put together your own pose book. You can make it look real professional if you have a scanner and PhotoShop.
I have a posing guide I'd love to share... but I'd have to scan it and send it to your email if that is at all possible.
Good Luck...

If you are talking about modeling portfolio: Love yourself. Find a good photographer. Look at his/her portfolio and ask to see all the photos from one shoot. If they refuse, find another photographer. When you do get to see all the photos from one shoot, if they all look the same, find another photographer. If there are many unique ones, bingo! You have your photographer. He/she will tell you how to pose. It's his/her job to bring the best out of you and if you choose the photographer by the method I gave you, he/she will be experienced in doing so.
If you are being photographed for a portrait:
As I said, love yourself. The photographer should be a well known and respected one. They will bring out the best in you.
Remember, no photograph is more beautiful than a photograph of a person. No one is non-photogenic. Everyone is beautiful. Including you.

If taking photos of the trunk or the bust sort then get sitters to sit on a chair or a stool and show their 3/4rs to the left or the right. People tend to look better this way. If standing then get them to stand with their arms straight or folded but again at 3/4rs and their head and bust towards the camera for best shots.

Subject stood up one foot in front, toes pointing forward, Face forward, body at slight angle.
Try to get the subject off the centre, think of your viewfinder split into 9 boxes centre subject in one box.
Lift up chin , big smile.
Use photo shop to remove red eye etc . Then you can mess with softening the image.
Above is assuming you have digital camera. Try to take a lot of shots different ways left right etc. Try standing on a chair above the subject with subject looking up to you.Taking photos outside in daylight turn on the flash. Hope all that helps

Go to you're local library and look up Bill Hurter. He has a great series of books on posing and portraiture for all different situations. There are examples and descriptions of how and why you would use different poses.
They are worth the time to read...trust me.

Look at poses from celebrity photoshoots and mimic what they do. Also, I think if you press your tongue against your teeth your smile looks more genuine.

Relax and enjoy being photographed.
Don't shrink down inside yourself mentally or you will look like somebody who doesn't want to be photographed.
You have to learn to be ok with yourself first.
Those obsessive types always photograph badly. They look tense and bitter.
Let your own genuine personality come through, no pretense.
you'll look great.

something natural, it's more in the facial expressions given. So if you can entertain them and keep them concentrated and engaged in the process, then the pictures will be more intriguing.
