Hi really need help with this problem im having. I downloaded a movie from my video camera onto my computer and it is and .avi file. I tried playing it on windows media player and it wont work (even though windows claims it can play such a file)!! I think it has something to do with the codec but i am not sure how to change that to make it compatible. I really need this help so i can convert the movie and so i can then edit it, do you all know of any programs or anything that might help with this problem? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this and help me out!!!

If you are trying to use windows media player, you can go to microsoft.com/downloads and search for free codec packages for your version.
