Both rooms (living room and dining room) are a light brown (rocky road) and right now the half wall if white. What colours would go good with that.

Think of it in cat terms. What colored eyes would you expect to see in a cat the color of your brown walls? Personally, I'm envisioning a really soft amber, blue or green, but you might also find an aqua color that's soothing and beautiful with it. Whatever you do, stay away from strong colors unless you have the volume in the room to carry that much color. It tends to make rooms look really heavy and overdone.

Hey Amanda!
The trouble with these questions are that we can't see the set up in your house, so I will try to help by giving you some practical advice. My suggestion would be to go to the paint counter at the local hardware store and find the complimentary colours that will go with the rocky road. There are many paint chips that will give you a good idea of how they will go together. Also, let the paint person know what you are trying to achieve, and I'm sure they can assist you in finding just the right shade for your rooms.

That's an easy one.... Take a decorative object that you have in one of those rooms: a vase, a pillow, curtains, carpet, anything really. Choose one color from the object and use that to choose your color.

I don't know what objects you have in the house, but here are a few colors that go very well with brown:

turquoise
burnt orange
green.... any kind of green from lime to olive to forest
deep cherry red
sunflower yellow

Oh.... and you can go to www.sico.com and use their free virtual decorator to check out colors online before you decide to paint.
