You can stop the bleeding by applying pressure, or put flour or some such powder on it to encourage clotting. If it isn't mangled, it should heal without complication, but you can take him to the vet when the office is open, especially if it looks infected. A small amount of inflammation around the injury is normal and does not indicate infection, but if it is very painful or very inflamed, see a vet.
If it is mangled and needs stitches, of course, he needs emergency care.
The ear has a lot of blood vessels in it. For this reason it bleeds more than a similar wound on other parts of the body. For this reason also, it heals faster.

Sounds like a good question for a vet. This dog may be in pain, need medication, antibiotics, etc.. Call the vet and have the dog seen. Sounds horrible. Can't imagine someone tearing off part of my ear.

Ear injuries are very difficult to treat at home. You should take your dog to the veterinarian right away. The tissue surrounding the ears, mouth and eyes is so delicate that home treatment is not advised (even for me as a vet tech).

Regardless of what caused the injury, it is important to treat him immediately for bleeding and to prevent infection. Please call your vet right away.

Good luck, I hope your dog is okay.

You need to take him to the vet an get him checked out. The ear can become infected and make him extremely ill.

Until you can get him to the vet clean his ear with warm soapy water and then put Neosporin on it.

yes it should be handled with a vet and keep it away (the ear/dog) from anything that can get in the cut. and yes it either did get in a fight or got its ear caught in something.
