Retailers charge Rs.2/- to Rs.5/- over and above the MRP of cold drinks and mineral water. I want to know if this is legally allowed ? If not, what should we do, where should we lodge our complaints ? Is there a legal body to take care of this ?

I take it this is in a country outside the US. It is not a usual custom here in the US to apply a "cooling charge" for cold drinks and mineral water, although there isn't a law that says they can't.

I'm sure it is just another way the store/restaurant owners have figured to get a litlle bit more money out of its customers.

If a drink is supposed to be be served cold, there should be no cooling charge for it. Now, if you ordered hot tea and then you wanted it to be cooled down, I see no reason why a charge can't be added for cooling it.

Is a bottle of mineral entitled for cooling as written in the instruction then you can demand it.

Whereas in the cool drinks it is written hence it has to be served as it. If not you can demand it.

A surcharge for chilled beverages of all types is standard business practice and is perfectly legal. It helps business defray the cost of the coolers that maintain chilled beverages as well as pay for the floor space that they consume.
