I don't think it is right that people should be made to feel guilty over something that they are likely to have little or no control about, provided that the charity is legitimate.

These days I think it is far better to do something about the less fortunate people of your own community, rather than people half-a-world away, as the way to deal with their poverty would be to overturn their corrupt governments, instead.

ITA. We can't save the world, only take care of ourselves and our loved ones as best as we can, and deal righteously and honestly with those around us.

Most of us do have enough feelings of inadequacy in our lives (deserved as well as undeserved), without having to watch ads like these.

Shame on those who approve of such ads.

No, I think such commercials are perfectly valid. Those children are in need, and don't have much hope other than from those of us who are more privileged.

Those commercials create awareness among those who aren't that informed about world affairs: about the need out there. It is easy for you to say they need to deal with their governments, but those people have no means to do so..what can a young child do against a government? 29 000 CHILDREN DIE EACH DAY of starvation, disease, etc. which could be abolished: they die needlessly. And people want to ignore them because of their own petty little problems. The person above me said shame on the people who approve these adds, but I say shame on YOU, for being so selfish, so self-centered.

These people don't have the means, the rights, the resources, the economies to help themselves. In places such as Africa the economy is slowly deteriorating: the problem is WORSENING. These people aren't helped because of selfish attitudes..governments provide less and less funding each year, and so that problem grows.

I could go on forever, but I know its useless: people are too self-centered.

I don't blame their governments for the problems of starvation and disease, but some of these programs of ours is just as much of a con job as you ever would suspect... Some, the monies are used more for administrative costs instead of food and ,medicine for the recipients.. In other words, if you donate, make sure of the facts before you donate to the charities...

Lol.

Your own form of censorship then?

Your entitled to your opinion but certainly ads should be welcome and in fact, there is a desperate need in the world outside the borders of your community. Whatever you chose to help, dont do it blindly.
