I have been told that the pronunciation of the name had been lost, therefore it is not used in the NT. The curious thing though, is that if Jesus was his son (or God himself as some claim), then he would certainly know the name and the pronunciation. Why did God want to be known by that name in the OT, but not in the NT?

In the old testament, God approached people so they would get to know him. In the NT, Jesus never called his father by his name out of respect. --- I certainly don't call my Dad by his name, even when talking to people about him.

i do not learn about addressing him, yet Moses knew God's authentic call to be JHVH (or better appropriately, YHWH, in preserving with transliteration technique). That call looks one of those the verb, "to be", yet a particular meaning is an argument of opinion. evaluations about devil are purely that, evaluations. i'm not particular what particular difficulty the JWs ought to have with Justin Martyr, and that i'm not particular what they mean via "nominal Christian" yet JWs frequently malign any Christian apologist who would not trust them and praise those who do. the recent testomony grow to be written in Greek. There are not any surviving Hebrew or Aramaic manuscripts that were not obviously translated FROM the Greek, and no NT manuscripts that contain the call "Jehovah". The JWs are making it up. In all Hebrew bibles, the call YHWH is undamaged everywhere it initially befell. yet Hebrew initially had no vowel marks. Vowels were understood from context. in hardship-free words a lot later grow to be the vowel pointing gadget invented. via that element, it grow to be a lengthy wide-spread practice now to not pronounce the sacred call out loud, so at the same time as YHWH grow to be pointed, the vowels for "Adonai" (Lord) were substituted, to remind the cantor. at the same time as Christians finally rediscovered the Hebrew scriptures, they tried to pronounce the resultant nonsense note, "Jahovah". regardless of the indisputable fact that, your centred visitor is probably to be so indoctrinated with JW propaganda that reason and reality is actual not useful antagonistic to her.

Simply because this is not Gods own name which is known to Himself alone, the Jews had no vowels in their hebrew language, and when God said to Moses `Tell them I am Who Am` sent you this was a statement of fact and not Gods name.
The Hebrew writers wrote I Am who AM as YHWH as being closet to the particular wording, later the vowels A&E were added which gives us Yahweh.

The Almighty YHVH created this world very good. Once man sinned, he could no longer meet the requirements of YHVH. Because of His great love for man, He send His son the Savior. The Savior's name means YHVH is my Savior!--YAHOSHUA! The only way one can have his sins taken care of is to invite the Savior in to carry them. If a person chooses to remain attached to their sins, they will be consumed in the cleansing fire the Almighty will send to cleanse this world so He can make it new! How could the Almighty be more generous? YAHOSHUA did call YHVH by His right name! That was one reason the Pharisees wanted to kill Him!

That was not his ' name ' that is a Hebrew word that was used to describe Him. If you look at the definition of ( I always thought it was Yahweh ) it that will help you understand the context it was used in.
