I think you should definitely be back on medication. If your doctor is closing his business then you need to find another doctor. I also recommend that you see a counselor in school and seek speech therapy if available. The government also have free therapy services for those with learning disability such as ADHD. Good luck.

I don't think so. Honestly, I don't know if many deaf or hard of hearing people would really want to be "cured". I have had a severe hearing loss all my life, but I don't think of myself as not being able to hear. If I was asked can you hear well, I would probably say yes because in my mind, I can. Also, dealing with this has made me who I am today so why would I want a cure? However, I do understand if people want a cure. I just don't think it's likely to happen soon. But I think its great that hearing aids are finally getting more attention and becoming more technologically advanced.

People in this world(especially kids) can be so cruel. Anyone whos "different" in any way is at times shut down for it. I have ADHD as well, and I know how distracted you can get, and how hard it is to focus. Its not something you can control a hundred percent. As for those mean kids, don't listen to them one bit. that may sound impossible, but trust me, ive been through it too. Find those good friends who stick by you through it all and stand up for them and they'll do the same for you. Your situation is unfortunate, but thre ARE some people out there who will accept you no matter what.

Assuming this post is real; i.e., you are who you say you are and have what you say you have.

You have two choices in life my friend:
1) Give up and use your honest problems as excuse to be miserable
2) Accept who you are and what disabilities you have and find ways to deal. There is difference between using your problems as excuse and accepting your problems and working around them, knowing you have limitations. Evrerybody has limitations but smart people know what theirs are.

Note: If you play your cards right, your ADHD is an advantage. You can become a more creative person. The trick is to moderate it.

I'm assuming you are going to 2.

I'm really scared about medication for ADHD but I guess if doctor give it to you, you got to take it. Tell them when medication is not working. NEVER TAKE ANY MEDICATION FOR ADHD NOT PRESCRIBED BY A DOCTOR. Alot of well meaning people around, who think you have cancer or something. You don't.

Tips ADHD:
1) Stay away from sweets and cafeine. Soft drinks will make you more hyper for example. If you have them, don't have often. Even apple juice can make you "high", ask your mom for an apple instead. On rare occasion you can have but know what its going to do to your mind.
2) You need to choose a sport you like and do it once a week. This is one way to channel your energy. You don't have alot of friends so choose a individual sport.
3) Spend sometime with no stimulation. Say an hour a day doing something passive like say drawing and writing.
4) Ignore people who tease you. Don't let them bug you and the teasing will be more boring for them. Find ways to joke yourself.
Look for real friends with common interests. Shy people often make best friends. If the teasing gets really bad, chose karate as your sport.
5) Concentration is work for you. I'm sorry its true. when you do homework, you may even need to use head phones to block out the world.

Hearing:
1) When you need to hear, you may need hearing aid etc. Use it when you need it.

Speech:
1) This is difficult. Best trick is to practice. Refuse to accept that you can't and keep working on it. Practice reading loudly in front of your family every day. Go as slow as you need. Don't give up.

God Bless.

Remember, only you can defeat yourself!!! Accept your limitations but with a grain of salt. Don't feel sad for yourself, work on what you can improve and accept it takes time.

Sorry advice above is not easy, especially when your young but the choice is ALWAYS yours. Don't let other people limit you. The choice to be defeated or to overcome is yours and yours alone.

You are not alone.

One of our sons has autism, deafness, has no balance, and is fed through a feeding tube. With all this against him, I can see how he watches the other kids and wants to do what they do and be like them. He tries to imitate them and this ends up being the best motivator for him. He is now slowly learning to communicate more and more with sign language. He does not have any real friends at school, but he sure does have a lot of people's hearts - not out of pity, but because as he strives through his difficulties he is truly admirable.

You can be admirable, too. Keep working as hard as you are. It will not always feel good, but it will not always feel bad.
