Yes, it does work, but you have to give it some time to take effect. The active ingredient is potassium nitrate, which "seals off" the little tubules in the dentin that transmit sensation to the nerve of your tooth.

If all your teeth aren't sensitive, you don't have to brush all your teeth with it. For example, if it's just a bit of gum recession, exposing the root, then place a bit of toothpaste on your finger and apply directly to the sensitive area and let sit for a couple of minutes before you brush. The toothpaste lasts a lot longer this way, plus you're not brushing with it where you don't need it.

Pretty much every toothpaste company has its own version out. You can opt to use a less expensive version; just check the ingredients for 5% potassium nitrate and it should work the same. Stay away from whitening toothpastes as they can actually make your teeth MORE sensitive.

I hope this helps. =)

I do use it but I switch off and on. Read the back label as it says not to use over extended periods of time. Any of the brands of sensitive works well.. Sensodyne is more expensive. I try to keep away from any of the toothpastes that have peroxide in them or whiteners.

It worked for me once I started using it regularly, and you have to give it a bit of time to work (It's not going to work if you only use it every so often).
