Do I wish them well? Do you want them to be happy?
When you can hope that they are happy no matter what, or who they are with. Then you are over them.

Do I have unfinished business with this person?
if the answer is no, then you can wish them well (in your mind) and you are over them. See what you need to do or say to finish this up, like if they have your Cd's or clothing or you have any or this person's stuff, return it, or donate it. Then wish them well, and hope they are happy and have a good life.

Do I want revenge? *bad!! you are not over!
Revenge never works. Get some help!

I have a couple guys from my past that are friends of mine, don't see one antohter often, but when we run into each other, We are happy to see each other, ask how the other is and we are happy for one another. We have a long ago love, that was good while it lasted. And we did and still like one another (as friends) but didn't stay that close in touch, I don't think it's healthy.
We are happy and have fond memories, we don't talk about "the good ole days, we talk about the NOW-- "what have you been up to, good to see you, you are looking good, I'm glad to see you are happy! Take care!"

When you can think about the happy times, and not cry or feel sad, and when you can wish the person well.
That's when you are over them.

im me if this isn't the kind of answer you were looking for.
---i don't feel for the person anymore is it over? Yes, break-up nicely and wish them well and move on.

well first of all you need to ask yourself if you were with someone else would you be able to give all of you over to that person and not be leaving a part of you with your ex now i know you are going to have memories with them but theres a difference if you feel like you still want to be with the ex then dont start another relationship until you can be fair to the new person

If you have to ask this question at all, then you are not over this person. When you are truly over someone - you don't think about them often at all - and when you do - it's more a passing thought than anything else. There's no longer any emotion involved.

Don't ask yourself anything. Just concentrate on finding someone new and a better match! Good luck!

Ask yourself if you can enjoy your life, and new people, despite that he/she is not in your life in the same way anymore. You may not forget them, but you will be able to make new things happen that feel good in your life. This is how you will know.
