I too have thick frizzy hair, and it used to take me over an hour to flatten my hair. However, now it only takes about 30 min.
Here's my routine:
-I use Panteene Pro-V conditioner in the shower. Its got a wax base, and so it will make your hair frizz-free after your hair is dry.
-Towel Dry your hair really really well after your shower. Try to get as much extra water off as possible.
-Put a tiny drop of a shine serum on the roots of your hair. I use garner fructise.
-Blow dry your hair. Make sure your dryer has a defuser, it makes a huge difference. Some people may tell you to use a brush and try to flatten and straighten at the same time. No! I just try to get it dry as fast as possible, and while I end up with a kind of scary blonde afro, the frizz is all gone. Plus when you brush it out, it is actually pretty straight, just with a lot of volume. It is so much easier to straighten your hair when its already straight and frizz free. This is the most important step! Make sure you blow dry with a defuser!
-Get a bunchof clips and start straightening, Make sure you've got a porceilin flattener. I start on the left side of my head, clip up the the top half of my hair, then flatten the bottom. The let down the top an straighten that. As needed add more shine serum. (Don't go overboard, though. If yu put too much on, especially near the roots, your hair will just look greasy) Then repeat on the right side.
-My hair gets so flat that it loses most of its volume, so I add baby powder to my roots to give them lift.
Hope this helps! Remember, make sure you blow dry your hair first. For me, this is the most important step.

I have the same hair type. If I don't have time to straighten my hair I will use Clinique's Healthy Shine Serum. It really helps weigh down my hair and sleek it out and is so easy you just apply 1-2 drops on dry hair. If you stop by the Clinique counter at a major department store they should have a tube out as a sample so you could see if it works as good for you as it does for me. I also have a Chi flat iron when straightening my hair and the extra money I paid for it is well worth it. I also use mouse and Nexus Heat Protexx before using the flat iron it keeps hair from getting frizzy. For extra lift to my roots if I need it I use Aveda Control Granules. Best of Luck!!!

what kind of straightener are you using? because some work ALOT better than others. if you are using one that doesnt work as good, it will take you more time. i dont know how you straighten your hair, but i pick mine up in sections. i pick up all the top layers of my hair and you just leave a semi-thin layer of hair, and straighten it, then keep dropping layers of hair until its done. it usually takes me about 5 layers, maybe about 30 minutes?

get a shampoo for frizzy hair...
also there is probably shampoo to help you straighten your hair.
if none of those work, get a blow dryer that also straightens your hair. my friend has one and it works really good.

u can use a CHI iron to make it straight, and then wrap your hair around every night and tie it with a silk scarf. that way u will not have to flat iron it everyday and damage your hair.
