Here is a program developed by Symantec themselves to remove all of Norton's footprints on your machine.

You can download it Here
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

The instructions are built into the program, but if you ahve any more questions you can contact me at Sumpaintballer41@yahoo.com

I had the same problem. It was frustrating to say the least. I finally deleted the main program by going to the main folder and deleting everything. Then I went into the registry and deleted every entry for Norton. Next, I ran a search for any remnants of Norton, and deleted them. Finally, I looked in the startup folder and deleted anything that was left. After a hard boot, I was finally free of Norton.

The best thing to do is to go to the Norton site and follow their specific instructions in removing it. Norton is very invasive. I've taken it off 3 computers and sent it back to Symantec..... They used to be the best - and now, just about every computer I work one that is using norton has problems.

One more thing - is you may want to try to remove it in SAFE MODE (press F8 while booting and boot to Safe Mode - your screen will not look right but that's OK)

Lots better out there.

If the program is running Windows will not let you delete the file.
You should still be able to install other anti-virus software though.
